View Full Version : Round 12: Sydney v St Kilda

Sydney are back home after a tough game out west. The Swans were able to put a disappointing first half against the Eagles behind them to storm home and snatch a valuable win on the road in the dying minutes.
St Kilda on the other hand were unable to keep up with an impressive Bulldogs side at Telstra Dome.
With Goodes controversially escaping suspension and Barry Hall returning to an already strong Swans side, I can't see the Bloods losing this game at home.
Swans to extend their winning streak to 5 games in a comfortable 30 point victory.

He'l be good enough to tear your sorry excuse for a team apart.
Swans to extend their winning streak to 5 games in a comfortable 30 point victory.
Hmmm...On form we'll go in as favourites but I'll be surprised if the margin is 30 points (either way). The Swans and the Saints have the habit of bringing out the worst in each other. Will be a slog.

Wouldn't it be sh-shit?
Anyway, I don't think we'll blow the Saints away, but I believe we should. They have a way of bringing out the worst in us and making sure it's a scrap, so we need to break those shackles early on.
Hall will be crucial to gaining the ascendancy(sp?) in this match, especially in the first quater when the game could quite possibly be won or lost. The Saints got the jump on us last time IIRC and we have to stop that from happening again.
Sydney wont forget how bad they were in the first half against West Coast and should be on their game from the opening bounce. If this happens, I predict a 4 goal win for the "bloods".
Lets hope Roosy and Lyon are so embarrassed over the last game that they have a coffee together and decide to have a shoot out:thumbsu:

Nah!:D
RL: " Roosey .. will you show me one more time how that gameplan supposed to work... ppplease!:o"
Will be a tough call to back up after the West ...to face another side with their season on the line!
A loss would not surprise but a SWANS win will set up the top 4 chance... plenty to play for!

The Saints have played an incredible 9 of 11 games in the dome so far this season. They're 0 for 2 outside this year. Hothouse flowers? Maybe, but they are on the wilt inside too at the moment.
Before the season started they were my hot tip to make the granny, but it just hasn't being happening for them.
Riewoldt and Kosi are both match winners when they are on but seem to be fighting injury, form and each other half the time. Milne and Schniederman have gone missing against the good teams this year.
The defence is missing Goose and Gilbert (who might be back?) but still has quality in Hudgton, Fisher, Gram and Goddard.
The midfield is their strength. Hayes and Ball in and under, Dal Santo and Montagna on the outside. Big and experienced ruckmen King (is he fit?) and Gardiner should break even with Jolly and Spida (is he fit?).
The saints are an enigma. Perennial underachievers, they always seem to lift against us. Lyons knows our weaknesses. He will flood constantly. This game will be a stoppage-fest. All camera crews should be banned from the SCG on Saturday night for fear of bringing the game into disrepute.
Any Saints fans interested in this game?
OR have they given up this season already and waiting for their next window to open in 10-20 years time;)

Of course we're interested. It's just that it's only Thursday today, we'll at least wait until the teams are announced.

Why are Birss and Armitage out? Are they injured?
No, because our Coaching Staff are ____ing idiots!
How the hell Gwilt gets a game after last week is beyond me..
Birss has been 1 of our best players over the past few weeks and gets dropped!:mad:
With the style of game these sides have met with on the past and the fact that it is supposed to be cold and windy is Sydney tonight kicking for gaol is going to be essential.
In round 1 neither song was on song but recently St Kilda have kicked for goal well, they have just had limited chances. The swans were struggling but since the Port game have been quite solid.
If either team goes off song tonight they are going to struggle. Efficiency is the key to matches between these 2. If the swans are accurate though I think their form is too strong for The Saints right now.
Kosi out tonight, not good for my dreamteam

By the way sydney fans, don't get too excited about the return of neanderhall, you're better off without him. Lets see if he can resist the urge to hit someone for once.:thumbsd:

It's a win-win situation for Sydney as far as Barry Hall is concerned. It will be funny to watch if he knocks out a Saint Kilda player (especially if it's Milne) and Sydney have shown that we are more than capable of winning games without him.
On the other hand if he manages to contain his overt aggression then he will stay in the side and he is a better player than Barlow whose place he took.
Yeah always funny to see a KO in football, you deadshit.:thumbsd:

It is on replay here in Sydney but gee..........what is it with Dwayne Russell? He said the Swans fans were applauding Hall and welcoming him back, and was getting excited when he had his first shot a goal, as if he had been hard done by or something. Cringe -worthy - Dwayno must have man-love for Hall for some reason.

Theres been a few questionable decisions/non-decisions but the majority of frees we are getting are coming courtesy of very sloppy defensive work from the saints. Dal Santo falling on Boltons head for example.

If you're talking about the one in front of goal.... Moore clearly handballed to Hall who was tackled by 4 saints and the ball spilled free. You're really clutching at straws if you want something for that.

The ball spilled free so how did he get rid of it? I'm just curious, was it a kick or a handball while we had four palyers tackling him.

According to many people on BF, Sydney never actually earn a win. It's more easy to believe that there's a huge conspiracy to hand us our wins on a platter. To the average Big Footyite, that makes more sense.

I'm not sure if you're aware of the rules mate but if the ball spills free in the act of a tackle (neither disposed of by hand nor by foot) then it's play on.

And Hayes dished out both of em. If the saints had more players with the sort of heart he shows they'd be top 4.
