Smithy,
We will go OK, but going all the way is what it's all about. Somehow, there is something missing even though we possibly have the best list in the comp. Time will tell, and a good start, and more importantly, a fired-up end to the year will be exactly what we need. Go the Blues - Premiers 2001

I think since we havent been that active in recruiting, the key will be how our Seconds of previous years step up. Prescott is a big loss cause he is a good player, would've played league for us this year but will end up playing reserves for W-WT.
All in all I am not overly disappointed that a few experienced players have left cause I think we have a lot of younger players who weren't getting a go, but I think we will be a top 3 team at the end of the minor round.

Blueboy!
Are you taking a 50/50 bet?
First you tell us there is something missing and then you go on to tell us Sturt has the best line up in the SANFL and will be premiers in 2001.
Make up your mind!
I know my mind is made up. Port Magpies for premiers, no doubt about that. http://www.bigfooty.com/ubb/tongue.gif

We have the best line up in the comp YOU GOOSE but the lack of current AFL players that can qualify for us may tell in the end as these blokes are used to the intensity come finals time.
Even though we do have the best SANFL squad.
I have made my mind up just like Smithy I believe we will finish in the top 3 at the end of the minor round but after that it depends on the make up of our oppositions.
Anyway what makes you think you can improve from 4th to 1st, you wont have it your own way this year.

for a start, there is no way that Sturt has the best SANFL squad. They have lost something around 18 players since last year (12 of which are first team players)...this has come from Carmans mouth.
From memory (the interview was sometime ago)
Ferguson, Kennett, Prescott, Robinson, Caven, Jones, Irvin, Soderstrom, just from memory...maybe if your website was updated we would know, but it still has player profiles of Corey Jones there!!
If you have lost these 12 first stringers like Carmen reckons, and apparently you havent picked up any amount of players, then you could be in trouble this year. I wouldnt think you had the best list in the league anyway. That would go to either Eagles or Port...possibly Centrals.
What makes you think sturt have the best list?? watch those blinkers again.
Port in the last 15 years havent gone two year without winning a premiership. we have recruited well to cover most of the players we lost, we have some really good yougsters coming thru the system (James Wilson, Bascombe, Holmes), and we were one of the best sides all year last year other than the last few games of the year.

What Phil Carman said was spot on in losing 12 1st team players but what you fail to realise is that to have a good list you need more than the 21 that our out there on a given week. From the 12 he mentioned only 2 of them were regular players last year in the first team we have plenty of players that will cover what we have lost.
Sorry for the blinkers I should be impartial just like you. Then I would statements relevant like having good youngsters such as james wilson, bascombe and holmes. Also the relevance of the current SANFL list with the past 15 years.
Thankyou for that, I feel more competent in discussing footy now.

again you have confused everybody that will read this. You say "phil is write, we lost 12 first team players, but only 2 regularly played in 2000" You lost some very good competent players...and you have not recruited very well at all compared to the players you have lost. Youve basically lost half your first team that would be picked. I would gladly like to know this great depth that has your club with the strongest list in the league. Youve picked up Darren Burton form Port (ohhh look out) who never played a league game there. Theres a world beater, just like his brother.

I was not aware we lost half of our first team. I was not aware that was what Phil Carman said or perhaps you are a selector down there. Sorry to confuse you I will try to use smaller words.
As far as world beater goes, well I guess should have recruited captain retirement and even though there would have been uncertainty on whether he would be there for the next training session at lease we would have a real world beater and we would be created a stable environment within the club. I believe eugine is another one your are chasing, another stable character, you are certainly leaving no stone unturned.
Regarding Julian Burton, I am keen to know who your fullforward is. Perhaps you can get timmy or scotty back there. You know what they say once you have it you never lose it ei once a wanker always a wanker. You should know that.

I think blueboy you live in a world of your own. The crap that you dish out about sturt being better than port and all that bullshit is just all crap. You live in a demented dreamworld of halusinations and grandures of something that happened in 76.
You won the flag about 300 years ago, big shit.

Did you leave school in year 4 because the way you write is nearly undecipherable. It makes no ****ing sense what soever. Just a few rippers that make no sense at all:
"As far as world beater goes, well I guess should have recruited captain retirement and even though there would have been uncertainty on whether he would be there for the next training session at lease we would have a real world beater and we would be created a stable environment within the club."
We would be created a stable environment??? What does that mean blueboy. YES, you did lose 12 first team players, NO i am not a selector down there. They were Carmans words not mine. He said "We have lost 12 to 13 first team players and a whole lot of youngsters".
We have many forwards down at Port. Phil Smith is probably gonna be our main one. O Conner may play down there. Beinke will play a number of games up forward, Phillipou can play there as well. All are very capable forwards. You didnt confuse me, actually, i think you confuse everyone, as noone understands a word you say. Maybe you should take some english lessons, to try and get the words in the right order maybe. The fact that Julian Burton isnt even a natural forward..orignally a back flanker (and not a good one at that) and he aint that good a forward either.

yeah maybe you are right, then again we did as I have told so many of your mates knock you out of the finals. Maybe that is me just dreaming again or maybe it really happened but whatever the case if it did happen what has that got to do with 76. You mentioned 76, why? What is the big deal about it, I didnt mention it until now. I dont understand the mentality of port supporters. Port supporters seem to know so much more than anyone else. The make brave statements all the time. What about telling us the Power will win the AFL flag, not the ansett cup the premiership, the afl premierships. But I can see arse covering statements coming through instead of showing some balls.

Thredgold and Howman are very good defenders. Macca19, the football guru will probably tell you they are port rejects, that basically could not make the grade at alberton.
I think there is still a chance that Scotty Robinson might play again this year. But maybe we should ask Macca19 who knows everything. What do you say Macca19 you wealth of knowledge you.

So Mr ********, you are at it again. You must have made another wise statement.
Is it safe to say you mentioned Scotty Robinson has left the State? Well ******** (if that is what you said) he obviously flew back to watch Sturt play norwood in a trial game last week. I believe it was him sitting in the stands with the other Sturt players that were not playing that night.
But why should I question you? You don't know anything at all really, but have a way of telling everybody, you do.

.....have to say that the signs aren't great after Saturdays game against Centrals. We led all day only to have them destroy us in the last quarter, the worrying thing is that Centrals only played decent football for 15 minutes throughout the whole game. Question is are Centrals that good that they only need to play in third gear against us in order to win, or were we that bad in the last quarter? Only time will tell I s'pose, after all trial results mean nothing.
