At one point 0 goals 5 behinds and one OOF. To me, that's just not percentage footy.
Who cares if he is selfish? He kicks them half the time; obviously not tonight.
Yeah, he kicked 9 last week so it is someone elses turn.
Selfish Prick :P

What is the reason though, as to why he can kick hauls like 2.11 and 1.7? Is he missing gimmees or is he continually trying to do the impossible?

Not at all. There were a number of occasions where he could of had a shot but took the better option and passed it off.

Torched them in the last quarter. Once he was away from Bock, who was thrashing him in the forward line, he blew them away and was instrumental in us pinching it. Hit the post from a very tight angle and almost sneaked one through on the run.

If I had his skill and talent then I would be too. He is in the side to kick goals, so that's what he tried to do. He had 2 goal assists as well so he can't be tht bad.

So it's just that he's a bit of a Jackson Pollock in front of goal then, nothing more?

He’s a forward, all forward are selfish.
He's just a baby.

Well he's not the most accurate kick for goal going around......you do the math. I dont see why this is such a suprise.

What I'm getting at, I guess, is whether he's continually trying to bomb them from sixty on the boundary line like his stats suggest, or whether he's just missing them from forty. One makes him a self-centred forward, the other just an inconsistent kick.
What is the reason though, as to why he can kick hauls like 2.11 and 1.7? Is he missing gimmees or is he continually trying to do the impossible?
Yeah he tries to do it...
and sometimes does it as well :)

Complete crap. :thumbsd:
It is a wonder he even plays so well; considering the Hawks are last in hard ball gets and contested footy. Imagine if they were truly a physical side, who likes the hard stuff. Scary.
Franklin is a gun, who plays in a team that is last for hard ball gets and contested football.
Buddy would be even better if the Hawks were not so soft.

You, sir, have completely missed the point. Not once did I mention that he wasn't freakishly talented or such a gun.
im not being rude or anything, but buddy not kicking much got me the easiest 10 bucks in my life, at qtr time i made a bet with my uncle that he would kick 6.
but good to see the hawks go up without buddy firein
Well done hawks!!

Not only him, Walls loses it as well.
Deserves to be selfish as he is far more exciting and damaging then most of his teammates.

which of those 6 shots should he have passed???
Or didn't you watch the game...

Well said. They were mostly reflex snaps that he couldn't get off to anyone else. Some days forwards kick them and they are superhuman heroes, other days they miss and they get called selfish.

I dont think he did....
He's not the greatest kick for goal but when its a pressure kick, he is one of the best. He is just such a freak that he gets so many shots.
Happy for Clarko to let him do his thing. If he's off, take him up the ground like tonight and let roughy and willo kick them. :)

No, I didn't watch the game. That's exactly why I'm asking the question.

Yeah agreed, he passed it off quite a few times last weekend.:thumbsu:
Another good example was against Essendon or the Dogs, he was running into goal (about 15 out), drew the player, handballed over the top to Roughie for a goal.

8% of his scoring contributions are Goal assists.
He's had 5 goal assists for the whole season. lol.

I find that hard to believe. Particularly since he averages about 8 non-scoring disposals a game.

Nothing wrong with a selfish forward at all - Geelong's got it all the other way around, where we all look to pass off to someone else and we sometimes come unglued because of it.
Buddy Love may be Selfish Love, but that's the only way it's gotta be.
No he's not selfish on purpose, knowing when and how to spot up a teammate is just a side of his game he sometimes struggles with so panics and has a shot for goal. He's good enough that most of the time it comes off for him though.
When he does improve that side of the game it will be scary.

he's gaining more and more composure with each game, so it's great news for the kid.

No shit, I reckon it's great how Franklin goes about it. Folk used to bleat on about how the era of the great power forward was over and that we'd never see their likes again.

Yes he is selfish...but I am sure its with the coaches blessing. How many times do you see him gather a loose ball and wheel around on his left trying to evade more players than he should to have a crack instead of taking the first option and passing off.
With that said he would never be in such a good position to kick a ton for the season proper if he weren't selfish. I am positive there is not one hawks fan who cares that he is either:)
I would be too if I was as good as him. And so would that knob who posed the question.

Franklin is so selfish that he decided to give up his chances of winning the Brownlow so he could play this week.
