What an absolute disgrace.

With that sort of play they deserve to lose.

Lyon: "I don't know why they're playing so negatively"

Yeah sure Ross... whatever you say

I still can't understand why they don't play a more attacking brand of footy. They have the firepower and they have a midfield that can hit targets, so why do they play so defensively?

Throw caution to the wind Lyon and play some attacking footy.

Lyon is one of the worst coaches I've seen.

Yeah, It'll be interesting to see if the saints fans are finally willing to accept that they were as much to blame as we were in round 1. The past few months have highlighted the fact that when the swans are on song they play some very exciting, attacking football averaging over 100pts a game. The saints on the other hand:thumbsd:

We're not a good team, every st kilda supporter will concede that. The criticism of the Swans came from the fact you are a quality team who won a premiership playing an ordinary style. We are a bad team who plays unattractive football, with the cattle we have I don't think we can play any other way.

We do not have one player in contention for AA selection this year, how can a team tipped to finish top 2 not have 1 player play up to their usual standard.

i don't think you will find many jumping on to defend the Saints. I think everyone is sick of this year already.

On my behalf Ross Lyon takes full responsibility for that piece of shit in Rnd 1. Well known fact his plan is an absolute disgrace.

And you know whats even worse i pay $300 a year to go watch that crap live.

Cant wait for next weeks masterstroke.:thumbsu:

every single team floods or pushes numbers back its just part of football. The good teams can just move it out.

I think blaming ross lyon for stkilda is harsh can only work with what he has got. They havent looked like going anywhere for the last few decades and he wasnt coach for all that time.

He took a team that had made the finals consistantly, made the Prelim finals during the last two years, and took them to the bottom eight. Of course he is to blame.

Lyon is one of the worst coaches I've seen. Brilliant deception by the Swans. Sucked the Aints in big time into believing he was a potentially good coach. Mwah ha ha ha ha. So long St Kilda - back to the bottom end of the 8 where you and your tanked high draft picks belong. You will never amount to a great football team.

that team was starting to fall apart, if thomas was there you actually think they would be any better off?

stkilda have spent too many years sacking and blaming coaches as we have until recent times, whats the point, make some of the soft players accountable is all im getting at.

At the start of next year we'll hear the old cliches again. "St. Kilda has the list to win a flag", "Any team with Riewoldt and Koschitzke is a chance" etc etc.

Their list is extremely overrated and has been since 2004. They don't have the cattle to challenge for a flag, which is why they are so far away from winning one.

I thought they showed some really good signs last night... The Saints.

Had you said 2005, you would have been correct.

You can be forever thankful that the fickle finger of fate creamed them at the worst time that season, allowing Sydney to finally get their flag.

The Saints were the best side in the competition in 2005 (despite having apparent structural flaws), but have unravelled beyond belief since then.

The saints were never the best side in 2005. Not by a long way. At least WC, Adelaide and Sydney were better even before the finals.

No, I'm going to stick with 2004. They overrated players like Clarke, Milne, Montagna etc and their depth is quite poor. Adelaide went through stages where they had a huge injury list, yet always remained competetive.

St. Kilda were never able to do that.

You can keep assuming that the Saints deserved the 2005 flag if it helps you feel better.

I've always said that Thomas' greatest asset, his relationship with the players, was his undoing.

In 2004 I think we slightly overachieved in getting within 6 points of the Grand Final. 2005, however, was our year but Thomas had a choice in the week leading up to the Prelim. vs. Sydney:

A. Play a fully fit team knowing that some would be dropped for the likes of Maguire,Kosi,Hamill the next week,

or

B. Play the Grand Final team and try to push through so that no-one has to get their feelings hurt.

Thomas was a great manager, I think, but he was too friendly in his selections and I have no doubt that he could NEVER have made a decision like Mark Thompson did last year. He just loved the boys at the club too much.

Ross Lyon was the wrong fit for us. Imagine what we could do if Matthew Knights was in charge? Any Bombers fans out there want to do a trade? We need to attack at all costs and you would be able to teach the kids about defence...
