I wonder if we should be like Port Power and Adelaide Crows supporters and demand a home final because we finished on top!! Honestly, I can't work out why this game is not being played at Skilled Stadium, not that it will matter as we'll murder Port Melbourne regardless of where the game is played!!
Go Cats!!

Its actually played there for TV purposes. That way the ABC don't have to pack up saturday night & go to another ground the next day.

Geez, the ABC must be doing really well financially if they cant afford a van and a couple of behind the scenes technical people to move all the stuff overnight!!

This is the biggest load of crap I have heard. I mean, Geelong finish in TOP SPOT, OUTRIGHT, and yet, play a 4th placed Port Melbourne at their home ground. Sounds a lot like 1997 AFL Finals here.
Gee, that's a pitty the ABC can't pack up the gear and take it from one ground to another an hour away, for the next day. I mean surely they can do it. If Colonial can get down all that wrestling stuff in half a day, surly the ABC can transport a few cameras and cables one hour up the highway.
Anyway, where ever it's played, Geelong will win, we are simply the best in the VFL and if we lose, because we had to play in Port Melbourne then that's a JOKE!
Go Cats!!:)

...I get the feeling of a conspiricy therory here. Whenever we finish in a premiership winning position (alah 1997), we have to be stuffed around and play our "HOME" games at the HOME GROUND of the oposition.
We have easily the best ground in the VFL. But yet, have to play a HOME final at a ****ty little oval in Melbourne, obviously not anywhere near the AFL ground standard of SKILLED STADIUM!!
Shouldn't the VFL be premoting grass routes level footy...especially in Geelong where the only finals footy we have is in the local leagues. It would be a real buzz for everyone, especially the people who cannot make it to the finals in Melbourne.
So c'mon, when we win this week, surley the VFL will have some scence and play a Prelim Final down at the Cattery!!
Go Cats!!:)

Looks like we are set for a ripping Preliminary final.
Geelong will get over Sandy, and then the big one -

I'm pretty sure we play Coburg, clever work with the Rooters comment though
The VFL site has fixed up its mistake & we play Sandringham on sunday at Port Melbourne.

I hope our VFL side can bounce back this week and beat Sandy after the unexpected loss against Port. We should have a pretty good side in now that our seniors year has finished.

We will have a pretty good team. Quite a few senior players will play now that the AFL team are out. But I don't think Sholly can play his farwell games in the VFL, because if I'm right, he hasn't played enough games to be qualified.
Go Cats!!:)

Sholl & Kilpatrick are the only two players from last weeks VFL side that don't qualify for VFL finals anymore.

Bit unfortunate for Sholl because he could've gone out in the VFL.

Ah yes I must say Geelong were great today in beating Sandringham. I was watching the ABC coverage with Terri, the good lady wife, but decided to take the boys down to Port Melbourne to watch the mighty Cats as it wasn't far from our home in Williamstown.
Good to see you jumped off the Willi bandwagon Bracksy :D

Maybe he's finally realised that Williamstown are affiliated with Collingwood. It's only taken 3 years to realise it.:p

Ah yes well I wasn't ever on their bandwagon, just love supporting my beloved Cats. It was a great to be at the ground today, and I even got the opportunity to speak with Phil Cleary and Ray Card at half time which was good fun.

My Dad was interested in going to the Port ground to watch Geelong this week as he hadn't been there before, and it looks like a good ground to watch footy. Therefore, if Dad decides to go then I am going and if not we will watch it on the tv. :):)

Ah yes well I'll have to look into that! It depends if Terri, the good lady wife, lets me go to the football on Sunday. If not, I may have to tell her I'm going to a Premier's conference in Spring Street so she wont know!

It looks like a good side on paper although I'm a bit disappointed that Carrazzo is injured and out of the side. Good to see Bluey back in the team.

And when we win we will play the winner of the Port Melb-Coburg game. Right now the scores are 51 - 22 in favour of Port Melb in the second quarter. Looks like revenge will be on the cards in the Grand Final... (hopefully, anyway)!! :D:D

You'd have to say, if we win tomorrow, we will win the Grand Final. Werribee would be our toughest challenge in the finals. So win tomorrow, we will play Port Melbourne. Revenge will be on the cards then!!!

What a great win by Geelong today in the VFL Preliminary Final against Werribee by 27 points in windy conditions at TEAC Oval.
Werribee had the wind in the first quarter but we managed to hold them to just 2 goals, then kicked 4 goals to 1 in the second quarter to take a 12 point lead into the long break. In the third quarter, we played really well, kicking 5 goals to 3 to set up the match, and although Werribee threw everything at us at the start of the last term, we steadied and ran out 27 point victors.
Our best players were Mensch, Hunt, Chapman, Bartel, Rahilly, McGrath and Grgic.
FINAL SCORE:
Geelong... 12.20.92
Werribee.. 9.11.65
Go Cats!!

Kelly was rather quiet again, which could be a good thing for next week. He'd be due for a good game.Ablett Jr should return at the expense of Andrew Merriman [very unlucky].Foster was as useless as ever.
