Just an off day for the jets right from the start, full credit to geelong though.
Dion Lawson was the shining light in his third game...

Calder wore their horrible grey training strip against the NT yesterday to avoid a clash of the oranges, but accounted for them confortably to pick up their second win of the season. The NT's hoisting of the white flag early in the last quarter was evident as the home team ran away with an 8 goal to zip last quarter and a 76 point win. Marcus White's work rate was terrific and was back to somewhere near his 2007 form which would be encouraging for the Cannons, while it was good to see Melksham back and playing well, Serhat Temel's powerful marking resulted in a few goals and their usual full back Dean Tydell switched forward in the second half and finished with two goals for the day. A few of the NT boys were lively but it was all a bit patchy for my liking.
Gippsland beat the Queensland side easily this morning at Sandringham. As has been the case much of the year it was the Power's bottom age players who did a lot of the good work - Golby stiff not to be in their best player listing. He's a hard worker that kid. John Butcher had a day to forget up forward but still finished with two goals and Nick Heyne kicked seven goals playing mostly up forward.
The Dragons suffered again with about 25 players out to school footy commitments. Sengstock and Muller marked everything for them in defence early with Muller going forward late and doing the same up that end. Suckling was definately amongst their best and is returning to his pre knee reco form, while Tyson Thomas was unlucky not to be acknowledged as one of their best. Ricky Ferraro slotted five goals and had a real impact on the result for the Stingrays.

Another lackluster performance by the knights - even with Hurley and Zaharakis back. Oakliegh really impressed me, jumping out to a great start and never lookin back. their fitness shone through as was evident in the last quarter kicking 6.8.
A few players i liked and was wondering if i could get some more info on them and their draft prospect.
Tunik (Oak) - Strong, Big CHF who looked the goods all day. excellent disposal having only 3 innefective kicks from his 18 touches.
Hoegel (Oak) - had the pill on a string and 4 goals to boot. class all over. touch of rhys palmer about him i rekon.
Dufficy (Nrth) - looked good up forward. not the biggest CHF ive seen, but what a pair of hands. 10 marks complimented with 3 goals and 16 touches, ripper of a game.
if i could get a bit of info on these boys would be much appreciated. :thumbsu:

Whats wrong with the knights??
they had Hurley and Zaharakis back and Zaharakis got best on for knights and Hurley second, so they obviously played pretty well,
what is wrong with the rest of the team???
Does it just drop away?

Big? Is he big enough do hold a KP in the AFL? Or will he need to bulk up a bit? He has amazing endurance but i would of thought that his bulk isn't one of his strong points.
does anyone see him being drafted this year or next year?

hmmm. looking back on it probably not. i gave him a bit of leeway cause hurley was playing on him - and lets be honest and call a spade a spade, hurley is a big boy.
you can always build bulk, a couple of pre-seasons in the gym. with a proper program and a proper diet, an AFL club could get a slender boy into a big boy. whether they have the patience with a player who will probably get taken later on in the draft is another thing.
can see him getting drafted on that effort alone. but that was the first time i saw him, and i wanted others to let me know a lil bit more about him to see if it wasnt a fluke.

I play school footy with Hoegel. Great little player, very hard at it and is always the one on the bottom of the packs. Fearless for a little fella and will always win the hard ball. Above average skills, and in general just a fair leg!
he has been known to look at these boards too lol.
not sure on his ability on being drafted, is quite short but i hope that clubs overlook that and see what he can do with the footy, rather than his cms.

Theres a few blokes like him running around. ANother fella named Ruffles from Nth Ballarat. More HFF/FP at this stage but a VERY smart player. About the same height (ruffles may have 3-4 cm's on hoegel). No doubt hoegel is a good little player.
If he doesn't get drafted he'll get a few of his team mates thats for sure.

yer i agree ruffles and hoegel are very simmilar players.
both can kick goals and rack up the disposals.
hoegel a bottom aged player will be looking to get drafted next year. hopefully he grows abit which would boost his chances

Anyone able to tell me how Liam Tobin from Sandringham in Round 9 kicked one goal AND got in the best players, yet the stats show 0 kicks, 0 handball, 0 marks, 0 hitouts...um...obviously stuffed the stats up there but you have to wonder how accurate they are when things like this happen.
