When a team chips around the opposition's scoring zone running down the clock to the final siren in a knife-edge contest.
We did it superbly last night as though each of our players had an inbuilt time clock.
It is a part of the modern game - Adelaide had flooded their backline in a too late situation.

I was freaking out. Kept thinking about 2 yrs ago, and when we did that how it never came off...
Also note the 2 guys involved in most of it: LEwis and Roughead! Great to see these guys come of age with presicion. Always wondered how they would be in a situation like that.

Spot on Gary.
We executed this part of the game plan superbly. We all hate it but it is a critical skill of modern footy.
Not only did we pin point the passes but we did it for a long time - for about 4minutes by my reckoning.
To do it for so long under such pressure for such a long time shows the maturity of the group. Clarko would have been rapt with it.
And who were the guys leading the way with the clock icing?
Two 21 kids called Roughead and Lewis. That's what I call leadership.
The future is rosy.
I normally don't like it.Was on the edge of my seat. But it was a beautiful
thing

Almost my best part of the night:
1. For the whole match, we looked to attack from the backline, moving it forward at every opportunity.
2. For the whole match, Adelaide kicked the ball across their backline (Bock amassed 35 possession )
3. For the last minute of the gamne, we held the ball up in our backline, and did it superbly. I was cheering every kick.
And the damn Crows supporters boo when we did it - what the hell were you doing when your own team was boring us witless for the rest of the game?

It is a legitimate tactic in the final 30-60 seconds of the game with a side leading by a slender margin. What I don't understand is why clubs do it when they are 5-6 goals in front.

And we did it well. The ball couldn't of been in safer hands either, in Lewis and Roughead.
Hawthorn of 2007 would have messed that up. Let the good times continue.

I thought it was excellent. I normally hate it, but to do it the Crows to ice the game was like selling ice to the Eskimos!
Those guys have bored the pants of the rest of us for years chipping it around and calling it 'tempo footy' - glad to see it used against them for once!

Drives u mad when you are a goal or 2 down and they do it.
Nervous as hell when we have the ball and the slender lead.
Either way it is stressful and necessary.
Hate it when it happens thru the game at end of each quarter, especially when teams try to defend a deficit!!!
Yes it can be mighty frustrating when you are on the other side of it.
Having said that our boys put themselves in the position where they lead into space and WANTED the ball. They worked very hard to maintain possession.
Well done Hawks on a hard fought win.
