View Full Version : Great to hear about the Essendon loss

I was very glad to hear about the bombers going down to frankston yesterday in the VFL. 117 to 93 were the final scores. If they don't get beaten in the seniors then it is great to hear about them getting done in the reserves. If Essendons depth was any good then they would have given Frankston such a thrashing that Frankston would have taken 5 years to recover. Well done Frankston.

Actually, eastaugh you brain dead moron. Play On is talking about the VFL. Just because it is a reserves league for the Melb based AFL clubs LIKE THE SANFL IS for our local AFL teams (you yourself waffled on about ANgwin being a future Crows star), doesn't mean his comments are not valid.

This section of the Big Footy boards is for Regional leagues. ALL Regional Leagues. It's not just for your rants and raves on the delights of being a Glenelg supporting buffoon.

It must have been a great game. This mob who have according to their supporters world class depth, allowed nick Sautner to kick 8 goals. A friend of mine who was at the game told me Sautner had 3 opponents and he beat them all. And McAlister for the bombers was reported for tripping. I hope he is rubbed out for life. Couldn't happen to a better club.

If Easty says I am jealous then I guess he is right. Jealous of a side that allowed 8 goals from Sautner. Jealous of a side who had a player reported for tripping. Jealous of a side who this week are nothing but weak dogs which the scoreboard proved. Plenty to be jealous of.

And look around. I have already said who I go for in another post. I will not post it again because a essenscum person can't be bothered to look around.

Let me go on. In the paper for most of the games they have the crowd. In the Sandy Tasmania game they got 1400 people. Springvale v Geelong they got 3321. Coburg v Werribee 2850. Williamstown v Bendigo 1843. The game between North ballarat and Port Melb got 850. Crowds were not given for the other games.

Essendon and frankston on a perfect day got 905 people. Now I can understand Frankston people not comming all the way to Essendon for a seconds game but there should have been at least 2,500 people. I guess Essenscum people don't care about how their young players are going.

You should care as your players from Essenscum are involved in it. As I care about Williamstown in the VFL because they have Collingwood players. But that doesn't mean I barrake for them.

Actually that sounds like a pretty good turn out for the VFL, great to see poeple supporting grass-roots footy. If my memory serves me correctly the then VFA used to attract a decent follwing in the old days. Be intersting to hear the points of view of some supporters who followed it back then of what they think of the current set up.

Although the crowds are pretty decent, on a per capita basis the SANFL still maintains its position as the premeier league aside from the AFL.

Oh and easty, youre a damned fool, must be nice to have a forum to present this to the whole nation rather than just the footy supporters of Adelaide.

The SANFL would be the best league. This was proven after they beat the VFL in the state of origin a few years back. And unless the AFL players can play for the vics, then they will probably go down again.

Easty is a goose. He says that he doesn't care about the league that the Essendon seconds are involved in. I don't believe a word of it and he probably doesn't either.

you absolute tool

for starters scores were level 10 mins into the last quarter
when frankston booted 5 in arow

frankston had a very experienced side, consisting of beveridge, lynch, just to name a couple
one player, sautner kicked 8 goals, essendon had no match up for him, he was huge, rob forster knight did a good job considering the height difference

essendon had 9 players, playing their first game for essendon
on top of this, robran, mahoney and denham where the only ones with any real afl experience

it was a great effort from a side consisting of several very talented 17 y/o who just dont have the fitness of some of the more experienced players

I posted this because Essendon people continue to boast about how good their depth is. If it is as good as people think then they should have won. You say there were 9 players who played their first game for the club. This means that the depth is not so good after all.

B]

At a game last year between Collingwood and frankston at Victoria park, they got more than 5,000 people to the game. This I think was the biggest crowd for the Home and away season. It was great to see so many people at the game. Even more so when you consider that the game was on the ABC that day.

As for the set up of the league now, I used to like it the way it was. As it is now we have sides merging and the nicknames of clubs are changing. Box hill, Williamstown, Coburg and Springvale have all merged with AFL clubs. The good thing is that all of the VFL clubs apart from Springvale that have merged still get to play at their home ground instead of the home ground of the AFL club. Springvale who last year played at Waverly will play some of their games at Morrabin as they have merged with ST kilda, and some at Dandenongs old ground. {I think at Dandenongs old ground anyway}

The Preston Bullants are now the northern Bullants, and last year played some of their home games at Victoria park. There was talk about them merging with Collingwood but now the pies are with Williamstown.

There have been too many changes since the AFL clubs have joined the league for me. But I still love it because it is football and footy is the greatest game in the world.

5 of these players were 6 of our draft picks
all great players but need to develop

our list isnt as strong as it was last year because we got rid of ready made players in prior, fraser, denham, berbakov, and bewick and replaced them with good kids

essendons depth is great, but we are in a position where not only are we strong, we are also rebuilding for the future
mcgrath, bannister, bullen, switala, forster knight, davis, davies, hunt, d.johnson, ken hall, ted richards, hille etc are all outstanding young players and will all one day play afl football, i doubt there is a team in the comp with that many talented youngsters with the bonus of being able to develop for a couple of years before being thrown into the big time, add to this the strength of the senior side then id say essendons depth is pretty damn good

your right walshy, we have such a strong first team and then we also have a core of youngsters. even though we may lose some reserves games it will be worth it in the long run when these kids develop and there isnt a better first team to learn from than our team of record breakers. I was glad we got rid of all those fringe types.
