View Full Version : Osborne: give the man some respect
He kicked the 1st goal of the game, and kicked a crucial goal from more than 60 out.
If another player did that, there would be threads all over the place, but once again people ignore him.
Most likely, if he plays an ordinary game next week, people here will be saying he should be dropped.
He's been more consistent than ever this year, yet you hear nothing.
He has almost taken over McGlynn's role in having physical contests and pressure in our forward line, but can take a good overhead mark whenever required.
In a year where we have had our best start ever, and have had a heavy injury toll, he has been consistently delivering and deserves a bit of respect.
If the injury list begins to reduce, I hope that he isn't the first to go, because he has offered a lot of hardness to our team, which we don't have an abundance of, depite having a very talented list.

Well done Blase:thumbsu:
Ossie does a lot unnoticed things - he will be in the team when our injured come back:thumbsu::thumbsu:

fair enough. there is one here i did find, but his name wasn't spelt correctly, so is my motive for starting another thread.

Can't say it's a bad thing i've created another, because overall this year, his quota of positive threads would be far below what he deserves.
the negative threads would still be much larger.

that's my feel of what he gets.

The thing that has impressed me about osborne is he an actual star. I mean, hes got great speed and aggression, and good skills to boot, reflected in that 60m bomb. I must say i was wrong about him. He is like hawthorns version of geelongs david wodjinski. His skills have improved enormously since he has been able to actually complete a pre season. He isnt missing the makable goals, and is playing great! I never knew he had that much pace to boot as well. Very surprised.

Hawks fans are very aware of who osborne is. He is an integral part of the team. Week in week out this season he has been consistent with his performance and extremely accurate when kicking for goal.
like i've said already most improved this year and has been the key along with junior in helping lock the ball inside 50 with his defensive skills - something we haven't had in the last 15 years, not sure if you're new to the board but there have been many posts on him this year singing his praises and improvement, he has been a gun so far this year lets hope he can keep it up.

I agree with the OP.
Ozzie is a player that often does really good work consistently this year, and deserves praise.
Its really frustrating when he does have a down game, people seem to forget all the good things he does.
He has consistently bobbed up with important goals all year, and contests and his one percenters are excellent.
Like his work a lot.

As i have said, he is better then Johnson was last yr for Geelong, and if he could get AA, so should Ozzy, wont happen though

I can't see Oz being dropped, even with a full team list. He's become an integral part of our first 22 and is so flexible he can be thrown back to cover in defence, go forward and act as a crumber or go to the wing or middle and get the hard ball.
Very under rated player is our Oz.

ummm......... i don't think so.
johnsons still one of the best forwards in the competition.
i must admit that i haven't been on the board that often, so may've missed some ozzie praise. it's just seen that i've seen a few times when there's a team selection thread before the game, he's always the guy to take out to bring someone back.

i used to hate the guy thought he was a turnover specialist. well he has totally turned his form around and everything he does now is sooooo much better

I was gonna type this in yesterday but forgot to, I was too busy praising Willo!
I really appreciated Osbornes ability to not muck around with the footy, and when theres a goal to be kicked he will kick it without choke. We have also learnt something now he has a raking right foot, comparable to any of our long bombers! I still believe Jordan Lewis and Young should get praised for their ability to take strong contested marks, really pleasing to see.

I think there has been a bit of love for our Os on here this year.

Very good player.
