we need a campaige that will really hit everyone deep about how serious our crisis is...

cos with a really good campaign that hits the hearts of all the melb supporters and even the afl communtiy we could get 40,000 members... no joke...

i wish i had the skills to make an ad and put it on u tube so u could see my idea but i'll just explain it...

the background song seems kinda gay, but the song would be Apologise by one replubic... with a slideshow showing passionate melb ppl either sheding a tear or celebrating the glory times...

it would also be focused on high profile melb ppl like Gary Lyon who in my oponion hasnt done enough to help us out...

if we dont get our arse's into gear and get all our supporters to buy a membership and get our high profile ppl doing stuff... it will be to late to apologise (which is the main line in the song)..

i know its gay but we need something big showing passion at the same time showing how dead we almost are...

One of the new board members is Russell Howcraft, who can be seen on ABC's Gruen Transfer.

Chairman and Managing Director of George Patterson's Y&R, Russel is the former Chairman of the Advertising Federation of Australia. He is a founding board member of Media Team, an organisation that assists not-for-profits with their media and marketing endeavors, and a regular commentator on ABC 774 in Melbourne. His current clients include: Yellow Pages, AFL, Cadbury Schweppes and the Australian Defence Force.

He is a marketing man - and should bring some decent nous to the table as far as getting the brand out there.

I think a positive campaign based on the gun recruits we are able to pick up in the draft would be more effective.

I don't think shock type ads work that well anymore. There are just too many of them.

Keep the campaigns positive I say!

Im kinda with you on that... I have studied advertising and working in the industry...

If we get people excited about the future and the young guys in the side who we think will csarry us to our next flag then people will be more likely to come on board. Maybe also something to do with the ex players that theyre trying to get up and running with Styne, Lyon and Greg Healy, that might get some of the older supporters back on board that hav lost faith.

i would cancel my membership before the first line was finished

we don't need a tearjerk. we need something inspiring, something to show we are worth supporting. we need something similar to the "new breed of eagles" campaign

Yeah, an appeal to fear wouldn't work that well I don't think. It would be like watching a QUIT or TAC ad, which would create a negative perception for the club.

I think it should still involve emotion, but focus on the future, the new board and young star players etc. That would generate some excitement around the club, and hopefully renew some enthusiasm from discouraged fans. It would also create a clear position and stance and vision for the club's future.

i suggest the Frockers theme song - it brings a tear to my underpants.

Something that would be good is to recognise our history, use voice or vision clips of some of the greats of the club. Could then use a bit of G.Lyon's speech at the 150 heroes dinner and go to clips of our current and players.

The theme being something like "MFC...Your Heroes".

a clip of aussie against freo and caption "support our passion" would be enough to get me to re-sign

Cheers d_m. It's hard to get much video into the clips...apart from youtube I have no idea how to rip video content off the bigpond highlight creator for example. Can anybody shed any light on this? If someone can get some good video footage i'd be more then happy to include it.

Someone might have downloaded a few and be able to give you some nice clips. The Freo game has led to quite a few vids on youtube so should give you some material to work with, especially with Aussie.

I've got the Freo game from a torrent as i was away when it was played - good quality. Good shots of Aussie. What do i do get it to who needs it - i'm not as computer literate as some:mad:

Sorry mate, can't for the life of me remember the site. i only used it once, just followed a link that someone left on this board. Surely someone knows about it here, or at least could revive the thread.

Five minutes of Allen Jakovich videos. That would make me buy 23 memberships.

What we need is a campaign that starts and goes hard in November.

By new years we're always so far behind the other clubs, momentumn needs to build.

That's exactly the suggestion I was thinking of. I found it absolutely inspiring and it represented everything we believe the club is/should be about.
I couldn't for the life of me work out why it wasn't used for our campaign in our 150th year.
