Most likely to be the top of the table clash when the two teams meet in Round 17. Has some extra spice on the line, not only for the teams and players, but for the fans as well. Cats and Hawks havent played since Round 4 last year, the Hawks won, but that was before the Cats went on their incredible run, it was also before the Hawks got up and running into full tilt, like now.

So who do you think will win and why?

Im gonna back Geelong for this one. In my opinion they've been just warming up and are about ready to hit peak form. I reckon the Hawks will cop it right when the Cats are flying, which could be interesting. The Cats have the better midfield, though Hawthorn's is by no means bad, but its hard to top Ablett, Bartel, Ling, Selwood, Corey and Kelly. Hawthorn probably have the edge in their forward line, with Buddy, Roughead and Williams, but the Cats at least have the backline to hold them, whereas Hawthorn's backline isnt the flashiest going round.

Cats will win it in the midfield and deal enough damage to win the game. It'll be close for most of the game, but the Cats will win by about 15 points.

Should be a great game and I already have my tickets. However, why is there so much interest in this game yet nobody is talking about the Round 16 clash - Geelong vs Western Bulldogs? That will be huge.

I still think Geelong is the best in the comp, we are just the closest rival atm, But i went for us based purely on the massive effort they will have to acheive in beating the Bulldogs and then us back to back

I reckon the Cats will get done by the Dogs at Skilled and come out and beat the Hawks.

It depends, if we still have our injury worries, Geelong by 5 goals, if we get a full team in (finally) I think it will be a goal either way, so I will tip us by 5 points:D
Got my tix about a month ago, and round 17 is coming fast!!!!:D:D:D

The Bulldogs will hopefully soften them up for us, hawks by 12 goals.

I believe Geelogn will win by 5 or 6 goals, but that's because I think Clarkson will use some strange gameplan to keep the Cats guessing for finals.

The fact that we would have played against another highly fancied opponent in the bullies the week before means that there's a good chance we will lose this clash. But not to worry, we'll win when it matters most that is when we meet in the finals.

I don't really agree with that logic. You don't get many easy games these days and to be successful a team has to back up each week. The Cat's had an extremely tough encounter against Collingwood in the Prelim last year and managed to show up the next week.

And therein lies the difference. These 2 consecutive games are home and away matches, the intensity and what’s at stake in finals makes it a whole different ball game. Mind you I said “probably” by no means did I insinuate it was a certainty that we’re gonna lose this match.

Fair enough. Definately a difficult period for the Cat's because we have Adelaide a couple of weeks before. They've won something like 28 out of their last 30 games though so I think they can play consecutive tough games.
