Fellow Blue Roomers, I've recently been co-tasked with organising a trivia night....(first time I've done such a thing).

If anybody has any tips/good ideas for fun bonus rounds or games to break things up, feel free to pass them on.

Cheers.

Perhaps you could put on some highlights of recent U18 championship games.

Me?

I know of people that do these things, usually a bit of old music, or really new music, or a picture on a screen slowly getting into focus, wher ethe first table to yell it out correctly gets the points.

In between rounds at some places the teams nominate a person to answer a bonus question. When it's asked the person has to run up to the front and fight the rest to yell out the answer, or some might need to write it down and hand it in first - while the rest of the team buy beer LOL

Questions I've heard that have been more specific like what are the red monopoly properties or what's 24 goals 18 equal to.

They're generally for a drink voucher or something not really trivia points related.

Yeah, we are planning to have bonus "games/points" between rounds. I want to have a jelly bean spitting competition after the sports round, but the guys at work aren't convinced on the hygiene ramification's:rolleyes:.

is it for a pub or sporting club or what? at our trivia nights we have an in-between rounds game called 'knobs n knockers' u get everyone to stand up and either grab their knob or knockers u then toss a coin and if its heads the people grabbing their knockers stay standing whilst the knobs(tails) sit down, then repeat, when it gets down to final two there is a joke sort of interview "whats your name?where r u from? say hi to.....everybody(everybody yells out hi ..... from blah blah)nervous tonight?what do u like better knobs or knockers? winner gets a jug of beer

also when there is a tied round u get one rep from each team to scull a pot of beer, winner gets the round honours
or u could just have one rep from each team compete for a bonus point by sculling in the break between rounds

Gilly, there are plenty of outfits that run these professionally and will take a lot of the pain out of organising it yourself. They usually charge $500 to $600 for the night but it means you can spend more time binge drinking (that's 4 drinks or more on the one night according to some pinhead that works for some govt dept). They are usually full of good ideas but will include anything that you want (ie pin the tail on Pagan's arse).

The cost can usually be covered with a $10 cover charge or bunging a bottle of Jack Daniel on the floor and getting all the drunks to chuck their hard-earned at it for 10 minutes ($1 or $2 coins). The closest to the bottle wins it. With all the booze drunk there will be plenty of ego and macho floating through the room and this is usually guaranteed to bring some coin in.

Also, get them to bring some music so that you have something to listen to while he is cleaning up. I don't think the Shins will get you laid with the work crowd. Tell him to bring his Abba collection. I know it is godawful crap but at least you will keep the chicks happy.

LOL, great suggestions truth....unfortunately this challenge was a red rag to a bull and now I want to prove I can do it better than any mob we could pay ;)

We are also spending the money on some entertainment (no, not that kind HBF) and one of the rounds for bonus points will be one person from each table learning and performing one of their dance moves.:thumbsu:

OK Gilly, try this. You organise a bit of karaoke on the night and some costumes to go with it. I have seen this done and it does work. Get a Freddy Mercury, Madonna, Peter Allen, Elvis and Michael Jackson costume, get each table to volunteer up their greatest show-pony and let them play off against one another for extra table points. Guaranteed if there is somebody camp enough to do it Peter Allen will win. I saw a bloke from our cricket club find a feminine side that nobody thought he had.

And you disappoint again Gilly. No one will want to go if there is no "entertainment".
