Would be interesting to list those players coming out of contract in 2008.
Here is West Coast's list as of a couple of weeks ago. This list was pulled together by another BF Eagle fan on the Eagles site.
West Coast
David Wirrpanda – Signed a 3-year deal (2006, 2007, 2008) in November 2005.
Matt Rosa – Signed a 2-year deal (2007, 2008) in July 2006.
Adam Selwood – Signed a 2-year deal (2007, 2008) in July 2006.
Brent Staker – Signed a 2-year deal (2007, 2008) in July 2006.
Quinten Lynch – Signed a 2-year deal (2007, 2008) in August 2006.
Mark LeCras – Signed a 2-year deal (2007, 2008) in September 2006.
Steven Armstrong – Signed a 2-year deal (2007, 2008) when elevated.
Brett Jones – It is believed he signed a 2-year contract (2007, 2008) during the 2006 season.
Ben McKinley - Signed a 1-year contract (2008) late 2007.
Mitchell Brown - Compulsary 2-year contract (2007, 2008) when drafted.
Will Schofield - Compulsary 2-year contract (2007, 2008) when drafted.
Eric Mackenzie - Compulsary 2-year contract (2007, 2008) when drafted.
Tim Houlihan - Compulsary 2-year contract (2007, 2008) when drafted.
James Thomson - Compulsary 2-year contract (2007, 2008) when drafted.
Players highlighted IMO are those most likely to be involved in a move, either wanting to go, asked to or get poached.

From Freo:
Josh Carr - 4 years when he crossed from Port (2005-2008)
Dean Solomon - 2 years when he crossed from Essendon (2007-2008)
Brock O'Brien - compulsory 2 year contract when drafted in 2006
Paul Duffield - 2 years when elevated from rookie list at end of 2006
Scott Thornton - 2 year deal in 2006 (2007 - 2008)
Ryan Murphy - 3 year deal in 2005 (2006 - 2008)
David Mundy - 3 year deal in 2005 (2006 - 2008)
Robert Warnock - 3 year deal when drafted in 2005 (2006 - 2008)
Peter Bell - 2 year deal in 2006 (2007-2008)
Jeff Farmer - 1 year deal signed at end of last year
Matt Carr - 1 year deal signed at end of last year - retired already
Shaun McManus - 1 year deal signed at end of last year
Luke Webster - 1 year deal signed at end of last year
Andrew Browne - 1 year deal signed at end of last year
IMO -
Warnock will be most likely to go and have the most worth to us from the list above;
Murphy will be offered for trade - if no-one wants him he will probably be delisted;
Mundy will have some suitors and of the offer is right (for him and us) he might move on... but I would guess he'll stay (gut feeling);
Bell and Farmer might go around for one more year- but while they have both been great servants... I wouldn't be sad to say good-bye;
McManus will join Matt Carr in retirement (thank the gods for that);
Duffield, Thornton, Webster and Browne will all be delisted... Duffield and Thornton because they are poo, and Webster and Browne because they have been cruelled by injury over the years...

Wonder if Freo / Port and J Carr would do a deal sending Josh back to Port?:cool:
Freo gets a pick or someone a bit younger. I've heard / read on BF (so it must be true) that Mark Williams has a great deal of respect for J Carr as a player and thinks Port need a hard inside mid.

Josh stated this week that he's not interested in going anywhere, and that he's happy at Freo and the speculation is simply because he's out of contract (probably got something to do with his brother retiring also).
I s'pose blokes will say that regardless of what they are thinking, but at 28, I don't reckon he'll want to move again, unless he's moved on by the club - or unless he thinks he can win another flag with Port in the next 2 years...
I doubt he'll be going anywhere... but as much as I love the little terrier, a 2nd rounder would ease the pain if he did want to leave... ;) :o

Would love to target Mitch Brown and get him over with his brother.
Victorian and Collingwood supporter as a kid so it seems a good fit.
If he is homesick and wants out it would be wise to make a play for him.

This may be a stupid question but how do you find out all current contracts of players?
Andrew Browne from Fremantle is a handy player. Will be a target.
The guy has the tools of an AFL player but he breaks down too much. Anyway, if you want him maybe give us pick 99 or something. He will be delisted anyway, for you can have for free.

Mitch is interesting due to his brother being a twin and also Nathan at Collingwood has also had a knee op.
Collingwood is an obvious club with interest, they have his brother and they need a quality big KPP forward to take over from Rocca. With both you could change both from end to end if one was struggling:p.
Problem is the Pies rarely offer anything decent when trading and the Eagles are weary of their history.

That name has been tossed around the Eagles board a bit. He isn't getting much of a run this year is he?
What do you think he's worth in this years draft, I'd suggest a 3rd round pick. A straight swap for a CHB Graham or Staker??

2nd round + davis That wouldn't be nearly enough ! 1st rounder plus Davis maybe, and even then West Coast would be getting robbed. 1st rounder inside the top 10 and Davis would be the minimum i'd look at, and even then the eagles would be being ripped off ! Brown was a first round pick (pick 16) and was playing well up until his injury. He is worth at least as much as his twin who was pick 10 !

1) He's worth more than a 3rd rounder. We parted with Jordan McMahon for pick 19 and despite that being a good trade for us, Ray has much more potential and is generally a better player than McMahon. He was a former no.4 draft pick and is starting to come along now. The other issue is his best mates are Adam Cooney and Ryan Griffen who arn't going anywhere.
2) Doubt the Dogs would be after Graham or Staker with Lake, Williams, Everitt, Morris, Hargrave, Wight all able to play key defence. A trade for Adam Hunter might be interesting as he could move forward for us.
3) The thing that works in WCE favour is that he is out of contract and it could be a case of lose him for nothing or lose him for best offer. I very much doubt the Dogs would trade him though if he didn't want to leave.
4) What would it take to get Mitch Brown? Ray + Hill (both WA boys) + 2nd rounder?
always right

Gia is also coming out of contract but reports are that they are progressing well with the contract renewal.
As for Farren Ray, the club will be reluctant to trade him as he appears to be only just starting to show his true worth after enduring a broken leg earlier this year. he was always going to develop later than others of his age and he will be a key player in our team for life after West and Eagleton.
Ray & Hill plus a second rounder is way over the odds for Mitch Brown. If were interested in getting him I'd imagine the trade options will more likely be Hill plus second rounder or Ray plus third rounder.
Eagles!!!

Not trying to overprice Mitch Brown - but he is a bery good player for us. Unfortunately, hs is down with an injury, but if you want to see his game, have a look at round1 2007 against syd. He is very quick (sub 3 for 20meter) and is very strong.
He could play CHB (we have Beau Wilkes doing a great job for us), or a CHF (Josh Kennedy) or FF. I personally think unless he ask for a trade then and only then would WCE trade him. This is inspite the fact that we would like to have Farren Ray running for us but not at Mitch Brown cost at all.
Actually, I may go ahead to say WCE may be preparesd to loose Adam Hunter before they loose Mitch Brown - that is how highly they rate him

I have to agree. If we were to trade I'd rather lose Ray than Hill who I think will be a genuine star.

Firstly if Brown wanted to go home I'd take Ray + Hill + 2nd rounder in a heart beat. We seem to have 2 to many KPP's right now IMO. Saying that I think we may need to throw in our 3rd round pick say 34 as well as Brown, your offer seems a tad high but if you take one part out it seems too low.
Ray has shown glimpses but due to his injury has drifted out of the spotlight this year. Remember this year is a so called super draft so pick 34 in previous years would be like a pick 24-27. And yes aour low PSD pick may add some leverage in negotiations however IMO only players who are unhappy with their current club would let that threat become a reality.

On the Ray + Hill + 2nd rounder deal
I do think It is a tad high but was just trying to work out what his value would be. I would be tempted though for Ray + Hill + 2nd rounder for Brown + 3rd rounder noting that WCE 3rd rounder is likely to be early and our 2nd rounder is likely to be late. Id say having Mitch Brown, Jarrod Grant and Ayce Cordy you would hope that 2 of them would become very solid KPF players. I think Hawthorn has shown that by drafting enough key talls early a couple are bound to become good players (Buddy, Roughead, Dowler, Thorp).

Hard to say, right now he's a early 3rd rounder. Was injured for the first half of the year with a broken leg and had to make his way up through the reserves. Now he's started to hit some good form in the last few games. Shutting out a good opponent, as well as having about 20 possessions a game plus a goal. If he keeps it up he should go early second rounder.

If Ray is looking at going home, Fremantle have several good talls who may be of interest to Footscray in Warnock, Murphy and possibly Mundy (they already seem to have plenty of his type, possibly better). If deals aren't done then the PSD can come into play, which will help clubs become focussed on getting a deal done.

Nathan Foley 2008

Dean Polo 2008
Matthew Richardson 2008 (vet)
Jay Schulz 2008 possible trade bait
Will Thursfield 2008
Shane Tuck 2008
Matthew White 2008
Pettifer Hyde and Schulz are probably the only ones that would tradeable from that group, although they probably don't have great value at present. Port may try and snare Schulz again, Pettifer might be used to try and sweeten a deal for an improved position in the draft order or for a player trade (wonder if Freo want another failed HFF ;) ), while Hyde seems destined for either a late round draft pick swap or a career in the VFL

I'm not convinced that Mitch Brown would fetch as much as what has been stated. Firstly if Mitch desperately wanted to go back to Victoria then West Coast would loose him for nothing and go into the PSD and get picked up by Melb, Ess, etc. So the only option West Coast will have is to probably get a second rounder between 20 and 30.

 Yeah right... clubs would be queuing up for his services if he made it clear he wanted to leave the Eagles. Would be stoked to get him to the Dees, but don't think we'd have sufficient pieces to thrash out a trade with the Eagles as I'd imagine our first 3 picks (assuming we end up with a priority) will be off limits.

The only club stupid enough to trade for players like Schulz and Pettifer is... Richmond:rolleyes: Schulz has next to nothing in terms of trade value, hard to see a club pick him in the PSD. Pettifer will also struggle to find a club if Richmond delist him, but i think they will keep him.

I think Prismall is only in his early 20's, how old are others.
Geelong would do well in trading these guys for draft picks, a couple of 2nd / early third round picks is not out of the question.
It would be brilliant if Sydney got Staker, then he'd be on the same side as Barry Hall :D
I'd actually go to the first Sydney home game here after that happened, just in the hope of teammate on teammate brawling. ;)

The three main players out of contract at Geelong are Corey,Chapman and Harley - expect all to stay. Players like Byrnes,Prismall,D Johnson and Tenace are also out of contract i believe and expect most if not all of them to find new homes in 2009
What are you gunna do? Trade them for pick 60 or whatever again like you did with King?? and then not use the pick! that was Geelong just showing how confident they are (and rightly so) Most of those blokes would get a game at another club... Prismall could be a gun mid at any other club!

Prismall is a gun mid at our club (when he is given the opportunity - like the last few weeks) and wont be going anywhere. If he did decide to leave i doubt the Cats would be stupid enough to trade him for a high pick like they did with King, Gardiner and Playfair as we were going to delist them anyway whereas Pris has a bright future.

You are dreaming ! If Collingwood wanted Brown they would have to offer a LOT more than that. If Brown WERE to go to the PSD Collingwood would have NO chance of getting him so, if they want him, they will have to deal with the Eagles. First round pick would be a minimum STARTING offer, and it would most likely take more than that as I doubt that there would be only one club interested in Brown !

What would other teams offer for Matt Rosa?
I think West Coast would prefer picks if this trade came about, though players wouldn't be bad either.
Of that lot, only Jericho would be on the trade table.
The others will all be re-signed, retired or delisted.
As for what happens to Jericho if he doesn't get traded.... your guess is as good as mine.

I think Carlton's having nightmares sorting out Fevola's contract.
imo the playes bolded will stay all either in future plans or current
I thought Mitch Brown was signed for another year... Do not want to loose him...

Franklin was due at the end of this year, but re-signed before the start of the season for 3 years. (So a pay increase for this year over what he was already contracted for, plus 2 more years).

Gee, you'd think the Bombers would think twice about offering McVeigh up for trade. He is into the second half of his career and does hold value due to his good form in the past couple of seasons. Sydney may be interested or someone else who is close to cracking it.
He's not going to be there when the Bombers play in their next GF.
Second round pick or late first????

If Kerr was up for trade IMO one - two of these highlighted players would interest the Eagles.....plus the Hawks first round pick.
Roughead I think would be taken off the table pretty quickly though IMO. Thorp, Osborne and Morton are fair game.

kidding yourself, mcveigh would walk into any afl side, including Geelong on current form, he would warrant a first rounder plus player or 3rd rounder. he is one of the form mids in the comp, a goal kicking mid may i add.

If my club was not under salary cap pressure I'd love them to take a shot at the bold players.
Geelong have:
Paul Chapman
Tom Harley
Brent Prismall
Kane Tenace
David Johnson
Shannon Byrnes
Simon Hogan
Really hope we get Chapman signature soon. I have every confidence we will keep the captain. The rest I can live with if they leave.

I'm still riled at that! Geelong admittedly had a strong side and needed to make salary cap room, but a 28 y/o premiership ruckman and a lead-up forward who are both playing roles at their new club should have been much more valuable than pick 90, particularly when that pick was never used at all.
I have visions of the draft room even now, cobwebs over the chairs, lights out, with an emaciated announcer still waiting for Geelong's decision with whom to pick with this mystic 'pick 90'!
Particularly when Jordan McMahon, he of the outside football extraordinairre, commanded a hefty pick 19 from the Tigers. Not fair i say from a Cat perspective!

The Cats got what they needed - salary cap relief.
The fact that Richmond gave up pick 19 for McMahon is just a problem that Richmond have in identifying the real talent.

Mitch Thorp? any chance of him leaving? If he doesnt he is definitley going to find it hard for a long time to find room in that forward line. In saying that I could definitley see him being a pretty damaging CHB.

He could walk into our midfeild, hand over the drink bottle and then walk out.
He'd join Prismall as the unluckiest man on an AFL list

Milne from St Kilda would walk into our midfield ATM:o, so thats not exactly putting any raps on McVeigh and as you probably know has nothing to do with McVeigh > Geelongs midfield.
The amount that Essendon supporters here overrate their midfield is simply astounding, go look at the Prismall Dropped thread, some of your mates think Prismall coundn't even break into the Essendon midfield:eek:. And I thought Carlton had one eyed supporters.
Mark McVeigh - 251 disposlas, 71%, 7 hardballs a game, 3 tackles a game, averages 1 goal a game, for a midfielder is good aswell as 2 goal assists, now if your not happy with those stats, then you guys are kidding yourselves. He won us the game just about against Carlton the first time. and has played vital cogs in numerous other games, including last weeks win.

Give you a second rounder plus Clinton Jones (yes another Jones) for Mitch Brown... Gotta be tempting given recent injury...
brown is contracted for another year still. signed for 3 years with the ability to renegotiate for the 3rd year.
will be back bigger and better next year and id say the eagles will be pretty keen to keep him!

Glad to hear this, will be interesting where he plays on his return. This week we have key forwards being Kennedy, Hunter and Hansen. Hunter may end up on a half back flank where I think is his best spot. I think he's playing forward ATM to try something new plus he's low on match fitness due to coming back from a jarred knee.
