or is everybody else sick to death of TV stations (particularly 7) showing replays of totally innocuous or irrelevant incidents while play is actually going on?

I would say about 40% of ball ups, and 100% of quick kick-ins are missed while we watch a slow motion replay of Chad Cornes or Buddy Franklin scratching their arse. There were a number of occasions on the weekend where we had progressed the ball to the wing before 7 managed to get the play on the ____ing screen. Ruck contests are an absolutely vital part of our game, yet we miss far too many for no good reason. I watch alot of basketball, and the American stations - for all their bullshit - never ever miss a moment of action. Yes, smaller playing area, but the game is just as fast, usually faster.

Bottom line, save replays for breaks or after goals, not during the game.

Are you kidding, after goals is precious advertisement space, they couldn't possibly show a replay when there's money to be made.

It is annoying but every broadcaster does it, not just 7. I have a hate on 7 more because of their crappy delayed telecast and eight or nine adds between goals.

Living in Sydney is a shocker!
They have delayed telecast of a game, usually starting at 11:30pm or later.
But they way they show it, with 8 or 9 ads in between goals, means that it usually takes longer on the replay (over 3 hours) than live at the game (less than 3 hours), despite them not showing anything in between quarters.

Maybe it's the same in Melbourne...

7's telecast spans just over three hours on a Friday night as well as Sunday, but fortunately we don't have to wait more than an hours delay. I guess we should consider our selves lucky?

totally agree vegas. and if we aint missin' out on action during play then we miss quite alot of the review of how a goal was scored coz they fit these ad's in then.

And scoring is THE most important part of a game. it is the end achievement. it is an indictment on the premise of a sport that there isn't even space and time given to the actual event and reactions resulting from scoring. you wanna see the coach, crowds, players, tactical, etc, etc, etc, e-f__kn-cetera reactions.

f__, if the richly lucrative round ball game can delay a break for 45 mins - why not afl for 30????

But the AFL got 780 billion dollars and the game has never been healthier right?
