May head down to the game on Sunday after seeing it on AFL.com.
Now, I don't know anything about any of the youngsters so which ones should I look out for?

Tom scully is probably the best midfielder you will see in the carnival. Glad he's back in .

VIC METRO has continued its unbeaten record in round three of the NAB U18 Championships with a commanding 53-point win over South Australia at Adelaide Oval.
The Victorians led by just 13 points at quarter time, but set up the well deserved win with a five-goal-to-one second term.
South Australia responded in the third term with two goals to Johnny Boras helping the home side to draw within 13 points, but the powerhouse Victorian side proved too strong kicking the last seven goals of the game to run out easy winners.
Impressive Vic Metro forward Jack Watts booted five goals in the absence of Tom Lynch (knee) and was well supported by fellow big man Tyson Vickery (two goals) and ball magnets Dylan Joyce, Luke Shuey and Tom Scully, who finished with two-apiece.
Athletic ruckman Shaun McKernan dominated the ruck with 15 hit-outs, 12 disposals, seven marks and a goal and David Zaharakis and Mitchell Banner were standouts in the middle.
Dale Armstrong, Jay Shannon and Matthew Broadbent each finished with 21 touches for South Australia and Boras (three goals) and Paul Cahill (two goals) were the picks up forward.

Heard from a respected source that Watts is gaining weight as the potential #1 pick in the draft.

Here's my take on things.
Vic were clearly the better side all day.
SA did have a bit of a charge at the start of the 3rd but Vic were just much cleaner with the ball and had too many tall targets up forward.
Best on ground was clearly Watts from Vic. Took about six or seven quality contested marks and was smart when the ball hit the ground. Kicked 5 but also set up at least 2. One particular instance which summed up his day was in the 3rd(?) quarter when a kick to him on the lead landed a little short. Most players would try to pick the ball up but he realised he'd be tackled by the defender behind him. Instead, he just tapped the ball up to a player running through who ran in to an openin goal. Great vision.
Another one that caught my eye from the Vics was Xavier Gotch. He was very good around the stoppages and managed to find alot of the ball. Another who did some very good things was David Zaharakis. This kid has some footy smarts. Shaun McKernan was good aswell. Took a couple of nice marks in the forward line and won alot of hitouts in the ruck. He also got himself in the backline when SA rebounded and got a few marks in the defensive 50.
Michael Hurley didn't have alot to do but even so you can just tell he has quality. Very quick of the mark and doesn't lose an aerial battle. One contest I particularly remember where he contested the ball in the air. Then, he quickly gathered the ball when it hit the ground, blind turned out of his opponent's tackle and pinpointed a pasa 40m away. All this was done within a metre of the boundary line. His kicking in general was very good. Pinpointed passes from 40-50m away. Class.
Other solid performers for Vic were Luke Shuey, Dan Hannebery and Tom Scully
For SA there wasn't too much to write home about. One who really caught my eye was Rhys O'Keeffe. Racked up the disposals on the half-back line. Just seemed to get the ball every time SA came out of defence. Was also good when one on one in th air. He even got himself a goal when drifting forward.
Paul Cahill was another good one for SA. Battled hard despite lack of service and took some pretty good marks. Tyson Slattery did well for a period in the 3rd quarter. He had a bit of a scuffle with Aaron Purves and they were both sent to the goalsquare. Slattery proceded to pants Purves for the next ten minutes but I didn't see him for the rest of the match. Another that I thought worked hard for SA was Alex Stopp. Toiled hard in defence.
Does anyone know if Slattery is related to Henry at the Bombers?
Hamish Hartlett didn't have a great day. He was injured at the start of the second quarter but returned in the 3rd. He didn't rack up the disposals but you can tell the kid has class. The few times he did get the ball he did something with it. One time in particular that I remember was in the first quarter. There was a stoppage on the wing and Hartlett managed to get the ball in between three Vic players. He looked like he had all the time in the world as he somehow avoided being tackled and got a kick forwards.
Jay Shannon was another solid performer for SA.
That's it from me.

Tyson Slattery is the son of former South player Wayne Slattery and is no relation to Henry.

Thanks for the write up Loopy, very informative.
How did Lewis Johnston go for SA?
Was Tom Scully back from injury?
McKernan is fairly undersized for a ruckman, albeit very athletic, would he have been as anywhere near as good against a team like VC or WA?
You've said a lot about Watts' smarts and contested marking ability, but what did you think about his speed on the lead, or his overhead marking? Does he have the talent to go top 10? Where do you see him playing at AFL level?
Thanks.

I didn't notice Johnston much but it wasn't like I was looking out for him especially. He didn't shine but you'd have to get a second opinion as to whether he did a good solid job or not. Basically, he didn't jump out at me.
Tom Scully was back and payed pretty well. Did mention him in Vics solid players. ;)
Well I don't really know anything about VC or WA so I wouldn't know on that. I think McKernan looked very good in the ruck but was also as dangerous, or more dangerous as a key forward. A bit like his brother. He probably wouldn't have as good a run in the hitouts department against a stronger team but he'd still be good around the ground.
Watts marking on the whole was very good. I didn't see much marking on the lead stuff as alot of the time the ball was just kicked in to a contest. He did take a couple on the lead on the opposite end of the ground to where I was and he looked fairly quick. On his game today alone, he should go top 10. Best on ground by a way IMO. I haven't seen him play before so this might be a one off today. If he plays close to how he did today for the rest of the champs he should go top 10. At AFL level he could play as a key position forward but I could also see him playing as a tall wingman at his current height. He is young, however and will probably still grow. At 194cm now, he will probably be a key position player IMO.

How'd Mitch Banner go? I noticed he was listed as a standout today alongside Zaharakis in the AFL sites review.

Got a bit of it but I wouldn't have had him in the best.
Shows how different people's opinions can be I guess.

How did Broadbent go??
Matthew Broadbent: Matty is very good in close. His disposal is effective by both hand and foot and he’s been quite consistent throughout the championships. Against Vic Metro he finished up with 21 possessions and three hard-ball-gets. He had a really good, solid four-quarter performance.

He might very well be pick 1 and good on Emma Quayle for making everyone realise.

Pretty sure he is injured, didn't go to the game but I remember someone said he didn't play due to injury.
Also SA Forward Phil Davis re-did his shoulder in the game yesterday.

Went on a massive run down the wing. Took about 6 bounces. Then proceeded to ____ it up and had to handball backwards. Not sure but I think they may have actually got a goal from it though it wasn't from his doing.
Got a bit of the ball but went missing for big chunks.
