I think we have gaps all over the ground Travis.
Despite what people say I think we need to persist with BEn Dixon. He is hard to match up on, and he has skill to burn.
ALl in all, we need a few of our young midfielders to spend the preseason in the gym bulking up, just enough to be able to shake off bumps from the opposition
Our skill level is pretty deplorable.
I say more skills, weights and phsychology, and maybe a little less of the athletics - no more turning our players into Trent Croad wannabes.
SO basically, we need another forward, so Thomo can be thrown in the ruck more often.
We have great up and coming midfielders, unfortunately we expect too much of them -perhaps we need a quality midfielder to take the load off Crawf
BTW Travis, are u on AFL chat at all??

i agree with what you had to say Jacqui...We should persist with Dixon, but he would want to hope to find some form early next year or else it may be curtains for him:(
we have an excellent group of youngsters, who need to hit the weights over summer. but they are still young. We desperately need either Campbell or Loats to take the next step, or try and
draft another ruckman (easier said than done i know). Thommo has won us games by having stints on the ball, and we do need to throw him in there on occasions. I don't like Shaun Rehn's chances next year. While you can't really question his ruckwork, he simply isn't effective around the ground these days and struggled badly in games this year.
Unfortunately Jacqui i can't access chat at the moment (bloody work firewall!)..but i can at home. look forward to speaking with you.

I think now that Rehn has retired we might have some trouble in the ruck division.

We do have problems particularly up forward with injury to John Barker and poor seasons from the likes of Dixon. I also feel that Chick hasn't spent long enough on the ball this year and we miss his run through the midfield. Against the Roos last weekend there were times where we were slaughtered out of the centre. Sam Mitchell did a good job but Chick's hardness adds a new dimension.
However I relly do think that the Hawks main problem this year has been attitude.

In the Ruck, we don't have any experienced players in their. If we were to win clearances next year, we would have to rely on Thommo and Rob Campbell.
