View Full Version : Wallace a negative coach?

I'm fighting a losing battle at the Blue View convincing Carlton supporters that Terry Wallace isn't such a negative coach as he is made out to be. Sure he made the super-flood famous in those back to back victories against Carlton and Essendon but from what I've seen his use of the flood has been a one off thing and on the whole he has (especially recently) coached an attacking, exciting doggies side. But you guys are the best judges, would you say Wallace is on the whole a negative or positive coach?
He used the flood occasionally. It wasn't all that common.
On the whole he's an attacking coach. Too attacking. I'm looking forward to the next one being a bit more defensive minded.

I don't want him. I don't want anyone at either extreme. I want a balanced coach.

We are the third highest scoring team and I think the second worst defensive team. There is our game plan. Everyone goes back to that massive flood in round 20,2000 but over the last couple of years we have scored freely most games.
He is a positive coach that has struggled to teach his team the art of man on man football hence what happened first quarter against you guys and has happened several times in 2001 and 2002. Collingwood once kicked 10 goals in 18 minutes against us.

Jim,
I visited TBV yesterday to see what the general feeling towards Wallace was amongst Carlton fans, and all I can say is that a lot of the people you're arguing with have NFI. Sorry mate, but when you see people saying "I'd rather brits than Wallace", you've got to ask some serious questions about their mental state.
For the record, Wallace has implemented one of the most attracking game plans in the league - the fact that we're the third highest scoring team in the comp should be testament to that.
If you get him next year, my money will be on you guys easily making the top 4 - so yeah, I'd rather you pricks didn't get him. :)

We have had a s**tload of goals kicked against us this year. Maybe we didn't flood enough.
Seriously any moron that thinks Sydney, the Dogs and St.Kilda are the only teams that flood is kidding him or herself.
Watch football regularly, not just your own team, and make up your own mind, don't read newspaper articles mostly written by people who have never played the game and then pretend to know what you are talking about.
Wallace was flat out attack.
His game plan was basically get ahead of the ball and roll the dice. If we got we scored, if they got it they scored.
It was exciting to watch, but frustrating as hell.
Have a look at our tackling stats - last in the comp by a long way.
