Lockington-Bamawam, never strong enough to be truly competitive in the Bendigo FL, have moved this year to the Heathcote FL. I thought at the time that they'd gone from one extreme to another.

Well, they head the table after the first round with a percentage of over 500. I swear they should have tried going back to that league that's got KRA in it, the one based around Kerang. Or even the North-Central. The Heathcote FL is not strong enough for them.

I agree with you totally, I know some people that used to be involved with the Heathcote Leauge and the relegation from the Bendigo Leauge to the Heathcote league is really great and any Kerang and Cohuna are far closer to Lockington/Barmawn than to Elmore, Heathcote and Broadford, geographically it is a silly move.

Lockington-Bamawm's old league (was it Northen & Echuca? Some league with Kerang Rovers in it), were their doormat, they walked all over the other teams. They threaten to do the same with the HFL. Yet they were generally embarassed in the BFL.

Does this mean that there is too big a gap between the major and the minor country leagues in Victoria?

Sadly there is, I don't know about any other areas but where I live, the standard between the Kyabram and Goulburn Valley league is not a gap, it's a canyon.

But I can see why Bahram/Koondrook want to move into a weaker league because winning equals sponsorship and players.

But the gap between minor and Major league can be narrowed, Mansfield were once in the Tungamah League (changed to G.V.F.L. Div 2 where there was no promotion/relegation, and now Central Goulburn F.L) and moved to the Goulburn Valley League where they were a chopping block for a few years, now they have shown a competitive streak and could be hard to beat at home and could be a major inprover this year.

Sorry its Lockington/Barmawn not Bahram/Koondrook, sorry

Lockington-Bamawm were close to unbeatable before they moved to the BFL. That would have been another reason.
