Brennan is now mug lair-less.

He has been doing it all year. Just not racking up as many numbers. Where does he stand in our team in terms of contested possessions?

Thank goodness he stayed.

His 2nd half would be close to our best half of footy for the year, with 18 possessions, 8 clearances and a goal.

His incredible agility and athleticism gives him so much space at the contest. Hard to find a comparison - a little more "inside" than Goodes and a little more "outside" than Kouta. As we probably thought when we drafted him, he may well be unique.

When he is on he looks as though he is playing a different game to everybody else.

Actually, the same could be said for when he's having an off game!

Definitely the best game I've seen from him....inspirational last quarter really got the whole team up and going.

Still doing a bit of the fancy stuff (don't mind that at all) but the difference now is that he's using/disposing of it to advantage rather than turning it over with a shocking clanger

If he can play to this level more consistently, he's not far off being an elite player.

Haa haa. From the sublime to the ridiculous.

The Gold Coast are going to chase him hard at the end of 2010 when he's out of contract.

Is just the sort of player they'll want to build an exciting new franchise.

If he can keep playing like he did last night, he must be retained at all costs.

Never more accurate words spoken.

I will never forget watching him play reserves last season and he was awarded a free kick for an out on the full deep in defence. He kicked the ball to himself ala a kick in from a behind, ran two steps and kicked the ball 30m directly to the opposition.

That was 12 months ago. He has come on heck of a long way since then.

Was it his best game for the club?? I would say so, probably his best game in by far his best season:thumbsu:

Will be interesting to see where he places in the B&F, his previous years have been 11th (2007), 16th (2006), 28th (2005) & 29th (2004). My guess is that he should have his best result in that award ever.:thumbsu:

Agree.
If he played like he did last night on a regular basis he would become the highest paid player in the comp.

Most frustrating player I have watched ever. I am one minute in awe and the next horrified. Last night was all awe.

He's ranked 3rd at the club for contested possesions. Behind only Black and Power.

Who is Jarred Brennan?

A little courtesy to players by spelling their names correctly would be nice.

I guess it's a fine line between what you shouldn't be able to do and what you just shouldn't do.

His Collingwood demolition last year was definitely his best game.

To be perfectly frank, up until half time I was wondering whether he was playing. It was that last half that was exceptional, particularly the last quarter.

The game where he kicked 7 goals against Collingwood was his best game so far (Simply because it was on the night of our club ball and didn't I love giving it to all those Collingwood supporters in attendance:)), but me never does it often enough for my liking, and usually, he often plays badly the week after he plays a blinder.

Although I wouldn't go as far as Jarrod Molloy did on the radio last Sunday, when he said that he wouldn't be in the top 22 players come finals time (which is a total load Molly, you need impact players like him), but every time I felt like he was playing like a god, he would end up playing like an anagram of a god.

If you haven't noticed some more maturity and consistency about Jared's play this year (and I mean the whole year) then you haven't been paying attention.

As a long-time defender of Jared, I've beem very impressed this year by his growth in character whilst at the same time frustrated by his inaccuracy when kicking for goals. I am quietly confident that he will mature into the player we have all been hoping for either this year or next, although it would be unrealistic to expect him to reproduce his game against the Crows regularly at this point.

As Leigh said ealier this year (and I rate his expertise more highly than Jarrod Molloy's), Jared is more likely to produce his best footy at age 25 and beyond, so sit back and enjoy the ride (or at least most of it).

Truth be told though, he was attrocious against the Bullies last week. Every time he disposed of the ball it either went to a Dog or out on the full, either way it was a clanger.

I think we have finally found "HIS" position.

Hopefully!

Whenever he's been given a run in the middle (end of last year, Geelong and Crows games) I think he's shown quite a bit. He pretty much won the game for us on the weekend, but his effort in the COllingwood game was just freakish.
There was less of the freak on Saturday night, but he seemed far more in control than in previous games. He's definitely been more damaging with his disposal coming from the middle. Might be similar to Richo's kicking improving this year, because he's more involved in the game and has less time to think about it (Doesn't explain the goal kicking though).

I'd love to see him play more in the middle, but the fact is until he can show that he's got the tank to do it, he's only going to get limited opportunities. He's gonna get flogged this pre-season, hope he stays fit because he'll be a revelation.

Until then, I'd be happy with a few more cameos of that type this year, especially when we're short through injury, while continuing his consistent form on the wing and up forward. His value as a utility is underrated IMO. We really don't have that many players who can cover a broad range of positions but he's one who can play pretty much anywhere on the field.

Best game he has played- his stats show he is getting better and more consistent every year. He must be played more and more through the middle can play a role like R Griffin at the Dogs- his contested possessions and x factor will win us finals. Best is yet to come

He looked set as a key backman early last year.

He looked set as a key forward late last year.

He now looks the goods as a wingman.

I think the key to Brennan is to keep giving him various roles. Otherwise he seems to drift in and out of games.

He's always going to be a 'high maintenance' kid. To get the best out of him you're going to have to watch him and listen and talk and adjust his role. If he drifts out of your thoughts, he'll probably drift out of the game. Basically he's the complete opposite of a Black or a Harvey, that are self-managing, 'set and forget' types.

However, allowing for that, if you keep him tuned in and running hot, the paybacks are crystal clear.
