Can I preface this by saying this is not a Troll.
Is being your primary tagger his best value for you guys?
Watching him play against Geelong, to me he seemed a waste of a very talented midfielder who is willing to get in and under, sitting on Ablett, to negate him. He looked frustrated, true he was being beaten, but it looked more than that. Surely someone else in your team can tag. Shirley is our primary tagger. It can be a good way to learn the midfield craft, but some players do need to move on.
Last year in your final against the WCE, once Cousins went down and his job of tagging was not needed he played brilliantly. In the 2004 Brownlow did he play a tagging role? I cant remember if he did, but I do remember him getting plenty of ball and punishing Brisbane with it, and for many he should of won the Norm Smith.
I know he is one tagger that often beats his opponent with his own ball use. But would taking this role off him propel him into the elite catagory of midfielder?? Especially when you guys really need one at the moment.

Bigfooty rule number 1 = When a post starts off with "this is not a troll" you know it is a troll
Bigfooty rule number 2 = If you're not sure about a post, refer to rule number 1

Is that the same as the "With all due respect ..." rule? ;)

It is, stop posting on our board. Look at the way you talk about the PAFC everywhere else on BigFooty. Look how many times I post on the Adelaide board, I know where I stand. So should you.
I think your hairstyle is great but..................

I dont think its a troll and I think a few of us have said the same thing over the past couple of weeks.
Yes he primary role is to tag, but hes an attacking tagger like Ling, who often gets much more of the ball himself.
Look at his role on Bartel in R1 or his roles on Kerr and Stanton earlier this year.
I thought he was misused on the weekend as his best work is done in the middle. Hes a good clearance winner and can block the ball up well in the middle. Spending almost all the game outside the centre square was detrimental to the team, despite the fact he did a great job on Deledio.
In the 2004 GF, he did a great job on Black. Killed him.
Cassisi is a good tagger and has done plenty of good tagging roles in the past and this year.

Kane is not what you would call a 'finisher'. I dont know that his disposal is always as bad as some suggest, but hes certainly not the guy you would want to set up to deliver the ball.
So given hes never going to be a damaging player going forward, one role that does fit his strengths is tagging. Stopping the oppositions best player is a valuable role. And we all remember previous years when he was freed up and seemed to spend a lot of time behind the ball.
If hes NOT going to tag, the only role I can see is a more in and under role, and try and deliver balls out of packs to runners. I dont know if he has the skillset to perform this role, but it is an area we are lacking. I'd love for a Mitchell or similar to be sitting inside and under the ruckmen.

You seem to rate kornes highly, what do you think the crows would give up for him?

What, someone like... Adam Thomson?
I wonder what would be needed to get him?

Leave Kane as is.
When he doesn't have a tagging job to do, his "creative play" becomes even more restricted to pinching uncontested kicks in the back half. Great for dreamteam stats, but disastrous for our side.
I thought he was ok on the weekend. The matchup was wrong IMO. Deleidio didn't get near the footy, so Kane was away from the action. I would have liked to see him more on Foley or Tuck given the starts those two players had.

Not sure if the Crows would give up what he is worth. Scott Thompson is similar age and job (that I have in mind at least). Also have Porplyzia. So no real Value to Crows, at his worth.
But in fantasy land. First round pick second round pick, Griffin (you need a young Ruck). Players of that Calibre plus picks.

Makes you wonder if perhaps that was actually a deliberate tactic
