I was wanting to know what exactly happened with Dox Weildon at Essendon. I have gathered by various comments you fellas have made on the main board you regard it as a rare Bomber recruiting shocker.
What were the exact circumstances of the trade and what year was it?
How many games did he play?
Your thoughts on the Doc?
Any amusing on/off field anecdotes...?
It all happened whilst I was living in Sydney pre-internet and cable tv so stuff like that commonly passed beneath my radar. I was a bit of a fan of his in his Fitzroy days and was curious about his demise.
cheers in advance

His demise was caused when he got run over by a taxi outside a nightclub
Still running around down Wonthaggi way at last report
I spoke to him recently at the Haydn Bunton Ball, and he has an almost photographic memory of the 1989 reserves GF, where Fitzroy beat Geelong by a point! :D
Needless to say, he still thinks he was stiff do go down at the tribunal for as many incidents that he did! ;)
A great bloke, and a great old Royboy!
He could have been anything with the Bombers the Doc. Unfortunately smashed Craig Davenport (was playing with carlton) in the magoos and got suspended for two weeks. Went out on the saturday and literally got plastered! But like I said, could have been anything!
Essendon also recuited another psycho from Fitzroy who played in the '89 Reserves GF, by the name of Dean Lupson. Probably one of the most psychotic players I have ever seen (with an even bigger reputation to match)!
My mate saw him get hit by the taxi.

Did he really get hit by a taxi?
Was he doing a taxi runner cos ****ed all his dough up the wall?
From memory, I think he was that 'smashed' (literally), he just walked out onto king st and bam, all over. Lucky he wasn't killed really.

Doc wasn't even the first one to do it though. I remember Andrew Leoncelli performing a similar stunt when he was drafted by Melbourne the year before.

Unbelievable!
I have never resorted to that behaviour in a smashed state, the worst thing I can remember myself doing is buying 41 cheeseburgers from Maccas one sun morning, did I feel stupid the next day or what! I thought that was bad but playing frogger with taxis, If only someone had a camera.
