Just out of interest, which club do people play for. I play for the Melbourne Wanderers in the CMCA (City of Moorabbin Cricket Assoc). Our club is nothing special from a standard perspective, but just a good bunch of blokes (I guess everyone will say the same thing about their team-mates).

Our website is:

Melbourne Wanderers Cricket Club (http://mwcc.mybravenet.com/)

I wasn't a Big Footy um cricket contributor back then, so I might add my name to this thread.
I play cricket for Loxton in the Riverland Turf Cricket Association. The only country association in SA that plays on turf.
I play A grade as a wicketkeeper, middle to late order slogger.
Currently president of the club and vp of association.
My greatest moment was in an A grade grand final two seasons ago (I wasn't even a wicketkeeper then, was just in the side as a capable player) when my team was 8/68 and ****ed.
I came in at 10 slogged 25 to top score and got us to 106.
Scored a six and two fours, only one other boundary was scored in the match.
We had them 2/44 overnight and they looked in control then dismissed them for 86 to win the flag. An amazing two days!!
I was named man of the match and we drank heavily for weeks.

/I play for Eltham CC in the Diamond Valley Cricket Association in Melbourne. Unfortunately we don't play on turf which is a bit of a bummer but you never know, maybe in a few years.

I played every game except one (got dropped and cracked the ****s for 2 weeks) in C grade last year as a first change bowler while being batted at 11, and I can bat! Seriously I was an all-rounder for all my juniors and my first 2 years of seniors, then I get to C grade and I am at 11. Though I proved them all wrong last year when I guided my captain from 35 not out to 102 to get his second century ever.

I have played in one premiership (under 12's) and one losing grand final (2nd year under 12's) so I'm looking forward to getting there soon again.

My best moment was when we were 9/31 and me and another bloke got us to 137 and we won by like 30 runs.

Arch - I think that it's time you came down to the Wanderers. We need a young wicket-keeper bat like yourself. I'm sure the skipper will let you bowl your tweakers occassionally. And there is plenty of Scotch & Coke for your old man...

Don't now about going from one of the best turf wickets this side of the yarra to playing on a hard wicket.

Havn't done much training (Unless you call bourbon and coke in training?)

My tweaker are seriously over rated, havn't turned one since under 12's.

Stuff the old man i'll drink his quota and he can come and pick me up.

We have been burnt before with a 'per game' quota. The deal will be per run / wicket...

 !!!

I had a bit of a run for Sunshine United many years ago in the juniors, going back probably to mid 80s.

Too fat to do any sport now though.

That would have been about the same time Craig Parry was playing for United??????

Ive only been at the club for 5 years but i'm sure I would now a few of the blokes you ran around with.

I don't recall ever getting a game for them because I used to leave my sign-up until after the cut off time for the season. :p Had at least three separate stints training there though, and also knew a few of the blokes from school and just being Albion neighbourhood locals.

Don't recall Craig Parry, can't say I knew any of the senior guys at the time really.

Actually I didn't really enjoy myself at the club, seemed a bit cliquey and maybe they just thought I was an arsehole or something but didn't really feel welcome for most of it.

I played in the Williamstown and District comp for about 20 years…….since under 14s. I batted anywhere between 1 and 6 in the A Turf side. Had a year off when I moved and played 1 year on the Mornington Peninsula, but far too busy to play anymore, so I guess that my cricketing days over. :(

Hmmm, I played in the Willy comp as well for Wyndhamvale - in 2 stints. played Juniors then went & tried my luck at Footscray in the VCA, played mainly 3rds.

Went back & played with the mates again for 2 yrs (for 2 A Turf Grannys - Couldn't crack it in either :( )

'Cos of work I moved up to Sydney & had a year playing in the Suburban Shires comp for Lane Cove.

Dunno if I'm gonna play this year - rather busy.

Small world. My mate Adam King played a few years at Footscray in the 3rds & 4ths, but is back at his old club now, Sunshine YCW. If you were at Footscray 1997-2000ish you'd probably know him...

Very small world. I opened the batting with him a few times - he seemed to have a 'shot' for every ball.

You can thank me for his hooking and pulling. In the YCW nets after school I used to bowl to him, 90% of them landed in my half of the pitch (on the first metre of carpet :D)... he got a fair bit of practice.

What do ya mean maybe :)

A professional 13th man!

If you honed Kingy's backfoot strokes, then I must be responsible for assisting his front foot strokes, with my garbage no swing no seam medium pace!

Absolutely tiny world mate. It’s a shame we couldn’t crack it either of them grannies.
Baron can thank me for coaching him in during his driveway cricket days (b4 juniors)..only joking, Baron was always going to be a good cricketer. He did manage to help his younger bro out tho, he plays district first…..and lost a granny this year, didn’t he Baron?

Well, I'm making a comeback for the Murchison FNCC this year, we had our first semi-serious training session last week, (The Kyabram District CA starts on the 12th of October with a round of one day games), my skills are now back to what they were before (*****house), i've found my cricket whites in my closet, and my Murchison FNCC Stubby Holder, i'm ready to go for a HUGE SEASON in 2002/03.

Play for Aberfeldie 4ths in the (Melbourne) North West Cricket Assoc. Our 1st's and 2nd's also play in the VTCA. I think we played against Sunshine Untied in season's past, but I've never played against them. Been in the 4ths a few years now...too old and too fat to play higher!
