is it just me or the robert harvey special - 25m chip kick to nick riewoldt a regular occurance every game? seems harvs always looks to spot up roo and rarely does he miss the target.

Not only this but it seems to me that harvey is one of few i believe who actually kick it to nick the way it should be, out in front rather than on top him where he has to have a body on body contest.

nicks strength is his running ability and long strong arms but its frustrating as we go forward our skills cannot get the ball in his hands. in saying this he still dominated last week:thumbsu:

everyones thoughts?

Agree - his ability to let Roo mark at full stretch does not go unnoticed.
Lockett always said he was given goals by Harvs on a platter.

My criticism is that he is Roo-obsessed and the opposition knows it. I did like it when he took the shot against the Pies (did not bother looking for anyone else).

I'd prefer that we had more options that he felt comfortable kicking to.

Yeah Harves or No Harves our lack of other options is our undoing. Harvey's ability to know exactly where and when to kick to Riewoldt is of huge value to the team, but we have bigger problems than just losing that. Gehrig is gone (effectively) and Milne can't be used as a target, so we need Kosi/Allen/McEvoy/Gardiner(s)/Schneider/Anyone to stand up as a back up target to avoid becoming predictable. Koschitzke's poor for has been a huge detriment to our team this year IMO. I reckon Goddard showed on Friday he is a viable option as secondary target, but he's probably of more value to the team outside the forward 50 than in it.

Agreed, Harvey is a very good at kicking to Roo and always looks to be trying to get him involved.

Lenny Hayes also kicks it well to Roo, unfourtanatley these are the only 2 that can hit up Riewoldt.

Tassie - I thought about this on the way home yesterday (your post was the last thing I read). I really think you've hit on a really good idea. Plenty of posters would know he can play forward, but with all our forward line woes this year, why wouldn't it already have been done? I've been thinking about Gram and Fisher, and to a lesser extent BJ (not sure why as he's an obvious fix).

If BJ is hanging around the 50, his man can't exactly float off him to go to Riewoldt's path can he? Harvs would kick to Goddard in a flash and I'd expect him to kick more than he misses. He can still float upfield to be a deliverer into 50 if required (or even a blocker of space with the current game plan!). He is one of our best at thinking through game situations anyway, so will know where to be.

Now he's shown the leap is back (hadn't seen it til that mark), he is a very dangerous (Mark Harvey patent pending) option up forward. Great idea Tassie.
