We all know that Doug Hawkins would love to have a crack at the coaches job however, I am not sure that there would be too much interest in him anyway.
Begs the question: If we had to have a former player to coach the team who would you nominate ?
For me I would go for Steve Wallis.
I know he is way too busy but he is intelligent and a great communicator and knew how to get the best out of his ability.
Just dreaming :)
ps Hawk might make a decent assistant coach

It said in the Herald-Sun this morning that the early rumour after Wallace had been shown the door was that Doug had the gig for saturday.

Any interest in Scot Wynd. Great player, great captain.

I would think Choco with an assistant group consisting of Dougie, Wynd, Wally would be pretty handy.
Its important to have these blokes around the club but sometimes its just as important to go for the best man available, which IMO is probably Choco (possibly Harvey).
Would love to see Gary O'Donnell take on the coaching job. Comes from a winning combination and maybe he has the know how to bulk up our younger players.
Go Doggies in 2003!!
At the first opportunity Harvey or O'Donnell would dump us to get back to Essendon. It's well-known that Harvey would like to step into Sheedy's shoes.
I like the idea of Wallis (another one!), but Chocco has got runs on the board. Great players don't necessarily make great coaches, and should at least have a couple of years as assistants before taking the bigger step. We don't want another Tim Watson fiasco.

He would be my first choice however, the thread was about ex Doggie players :)
