after reading the Mark loves Sharron thread, it got me thinking what are some of the biggest pile of shite that have ever graced our tv's with the stamp australian made. my nominations are:

Marty and Jess: reality spin off about the wedding of two big brother housemates. I watch one episode of this (missus loved BB) and i was embarresed for anyone on, or had anything to do with this show.
NB- it took ten minutes of wikipedia searching to find the name of this show and i completly forgot the names of the characters

?? is getting married - could be bothered looking her name up, but it was total train wreck tv, even my wife (who loves this sort of shite) lasted less then an episode.

never saw it but, specail mention to. Australia Naughtiest Home Videos
which as the legend go's was taken of the air third of the way into broadcast, after KP say it rang up the ex's and said' get this shite of the air"
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Australia%27s_Naughtiest_Home_Videos

there is prob heaps of others that i cant think of.

That's just so wrong. Hey Dad itself was a pile of poop.

I'll add Starstruck a ch9 show from a few years back. One of the worst things I've ever seen.

It's pretty good, the questions aren't dumbed down and the show doesn't take itself too seriously. What more could you want?

The Cooks was an expensive, much hyped show from Channel 10 that was axed after one episode and then banished to a late night timeslot. While I enjoyed the first 3 series of another Channel 10 show, The Secret Life of Us, it started to struggle for ideas and subsequently ratings towards the end of 2003. Maybe it would have been kinder to end it there, but almost the entire cast were removed without explanation and replaced with a bunch of new, "cool" characters. The result was a train wreck, and the 2004 series of Secret Life was mercifully axed after 3 episodes.

I agree with some earlier posters - I also love the Einstein Factor - the format of this show is great, and is one of my favourites.

Just one problem with that show. When looking to film a show about a holiday resort, you'd think they'd film it in a warm climate. They ended up filming it in the middle of a Melbourne Winter. The set though found use in Neighbours for a while though.

Arcade
Holiday Island
Punishment

can't remember where I heard the story but, they built this massive set worth 2 mil for the show

after the show tanked apparently the cast and crew came in one day to work on the show and saw this massive pile of wood with a sign saying "free firewood"

a massive pile of wood that just happened to be the set

With the supreme amount of anal excretion flooding our screens these days the question should really be what’s actually worthy of a geeze?

- Newstopia
- Midsommer Murders
- The Wire
- Southpark
- Skins
- anything involving Gordon Ramsay
- " " David Attenbrough
- the classic Simpsons (the new ones are absolute arse)
- Drawn Together
- 30rock
- Food Safari
- Always Sunny in Philadelphia
- Law and Order SVU

(And maybe a few others)

Yeah. That's the one. Towards the end, apparently there was a plot line involving a vampire! I mean common!

Vampires and cloning technology and evil neo-Nazis known as the April Corporation, so called because Adolph Hitler was born and died in the month of April. And a super villain called Alucard. Spell it backwards, people!

But enough of Chances, I thought this thread was supposed to be WORST shows ever.

Chances rocked! I guess if you thought it was meant to be serious you would think it was crap.

Australian scripted shows have stank for some time. I really can't think of the last time their was a decent show.

But as someone else pointed out, its possibly a bit unfair to single out australian shows.

Ah yes, while Channel 9 have form for shithouse light comedy and sitcom attempts, Channel 10 never fail to swing and miss with overhyped, highly budgeted tripe that is either axed or banished to late night within weeks.

Other examples:

Above The Law (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0235117/) - The lives of 20-somethings in an apartment block above a police station (ABOVE THE LAW GET IT LOL!) which was represented by a cheap model a la the house in Hey Dad! Whenever an Australian show markets itself using the word "intrigue" run, run very fast.
Crashburn (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0306307/) - supposedly a Secret Life of Us for 30 and 40-somethings.
Medivac (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0115264/) - Awful. Casting Dieter Brummer and Melissa Tkautz in prominent roles? Magic son, magic.
The Surgeon (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0485071/) - Survived 8 episodes.

The thing about Chances is that it started out as a pretty standard glamour soap with a little T&A, then when that didn't work, they panicked and ramped up the T&A to the point of soft core porn. And when that failed, all the executives ran for cover, leaving a junior script writing team to usher the program through the last 13 weeks or so of the contract. And that's when they went wild, knowing they would never again receive the freedom of a network TV drama where no executive wanted admit being responsible.

Agree with Big Brother & The Wedge, but City Homicide is great. I find Sea Patrol a banal, bland show but it seems to rate OK.

Another poster mentioned My Kid's A Star - I have to admit that I watched this, but only so I could disapprove of it. How crazy is that?! I guess that makes me no better than old ladies who watch music video programs so that they can complain to their friends at bingo about modern music; or some puritanical man who watches shows with swearing and partial nudity, and then writes to newspapers to complain about them.

Sea Patrol is exciting action packed tv. I enjoy City Homicide and wouldn't call it the worst ever but it is far from great. The writing and acting leave a lot to be desired. Influenced a lot by such US shows as Criminal Minds but nowhere near the same level.
