Call me cynical, but I have a very strong feeling that Taylor is 100% certain to return after the split round and Renouf has been told "you have played some good games kid, but Tails is back, you've got promise and a good future here... now, before you go back to Box Hill, we need you to place a few hits tonight"
He just seemed far to willing to play the man tonight, I just think it may even be a pre-determined team strategy if Tails is good to come back.

I'd say 3 for Big Man.
Also, the C7 drip commentators call him "Ren-off".
How is it supposed to be pronounced?
Ren-oo-f??

Flush... thats the sound of your post being sent down the toilet.. what a load of crap.
The worst thing for Renouf is for now and forever his tribunal record will be affected by not having a good prior record. Silly boy.
As if you know or don't know.

"Ren-off" is right. Said it in hawks interactive interview.
2 to 3. It was more clumsy than malicious for mine, but still pretty ordinary. Taylor should be back for Sydney anyway.

Help me out. Why would Tails coming back, result in the match committee wanting Renouf to get rubbed out?

In fairness to him he is a tall man :p

Third quarter. Looking on youtube now, but can't find it.
l agree that it was more clumsy than malicious, but looked awkward enough to cop more than a fortnight minimum.

It was great to see a glimpse of what the big fella will have to offer down the track, with him and Big Max (when finally fit) holding down our ruck department it augers well for the future...
I think he will get 1-2 wks with an early plea.

True, if it was 20 years ago and a grand final.

4-5 weeks would be an absolute joke, how can Barry hall get 7 for knocking a bloke out cold, and the player not returning for the whole game and Renouf get 4-5 weeks?
Selwood went off for 5-10 mins, but he did return. He was diagnosed as being ok at the end of the game, with no break to the jaw, cheek bone area.
I'd say 3 weeks, 2 with the early plea. No prior convictions, so I'd say 2weeks would fit the crime. As one thread stated, it was more clumsy than malicious and I think the intent was to block Selwood, not to strike him.
I'm saying Renouff will get 3weeks and will take the early plea of 2 weeks.

i think he will get 3 but down to 2 with an early plea, liked what i sawof him, he knows Tails is coming back and just tried that bit hard to be physical.the way Cox outbodied him was good for him in that he will know he has to strengthen up. good prospect if he doesnt head back to QLD

Played a ripping game!
Third quarter looked like he suddenly realised that he was part of it and could really influence the game (and selwood's facial structure).
I think he'll get a 3 game suspension.

at the game from my vantage point looked like nothing, on replay looked worse, however, he did not leave his feet, and it appeared that he was trying to stop himself as selwood got rid of the ball, he was running damn quick.
Accidental in my opinion, not deliberate as many have said

Probably medium impact, not sure if they'll view it as reckless or negligent, but I suspect they'll go reckless. I'm not sure how many points that is. I think maybe 325, so 2 weeks with early plea. Might be better off to contest so he has fewer carry-over points though, since Taylor will be right for Sydney anyway. But yeah, as soon as I saw it, I was thinking how glad I was that we had the break coming so there's no doubt about Taylor being ready.

Been hit with 325 demerit points by the MRP, which equates to a 3-week penalty. Will have 2 weeks off if he takes an early plea.

Hawk faces two match ban
4:14 PM Mon 30 June, 2008
HAWTHORN’S Brent Renouf has been offered a two-game sanction with an early plea after being charged with a Level Four striking offence against Adam Selwood.
The Match Review Panel assessed the incident as reckless conduct (two points), high impact (three points) and high contact (two points), totalling seven activation points, drawing 325 demerit points and a three-match ban. As he has no existing good or bad record he can make an early plea, reducing the demerit points to 243.75 and a two-match ban.
In other Match Review Panel decisions, Darren Glass, Adam Hunter, Trent Croad, Mark Williams and Lance Franklin have all been charged with engaging in a melee and can all accept $1200 fines with early pleas.
Carlton’s Brendan Fevola has been charged with a third offence for wrestling with Kelvin Moore of Richmond. He can accept a $3000 fine with an early plea.

I don't think Rusy was stating it to let you know about his good record.... moreover using it as evidence that he's likely to get less of a penalty than those players who have offences against their names already.
No need to have a go Caddyshack.
Exactly what I expected, and what we'd want if someone had elbowed one of our blokes in the head.

Yep, it's a fair result.
It did look very bad on replay. It's hard for the big guys, they're not as coordinated. I'm just surprised with how well Taylor has done in this respect :D
Shame. He looks good in the Seniors

Young ruckman Brent Renouf takes two-match ban
Bruce Matthews | July 01, 2008 11:15am
YOUNG Hawthorn ruckman Brent Renouf's bid to shore up a senior place has been disrupted by suspension. Renouf must sit out the next two rounds after pleading guilty to striking West Coast defender Adam Selwood with an arm to the head during an attempted shepherd in the third quarter at the MCG on Friday night.
The strike by Renouf, playing only his third AFL game as a replacement for the injured Simon Taylor, was assessed as reckless and high impact.
The offence drew 325 demerit points and a three-match suspension, reduced to two games by pleading guilty.
Renouf, who shared the ruck duties with Robert Campbell against Dean Cox, escaped censure for a clash with Brad Ebert in the second quarter.
The match review panel decided the 20-year-old made contact to Ebert with an open hand in an action considered to be a tackle.
Hawk teammates Lance Franklin, Trent Croad and Mark Williams, along with Eagles Darren Glass and Adam Hunter, all accepted $1200 fines for their part in a second-quarter melee.
And Carlton spearhead Brendan Fevola received a $3000 fine for wrestling Richmond's Kelvin Moore in the third quarter at the MCG on Saturday. It was Fevola's third wrestling conviction.
No action was taken against Port Adelaide forward Daniel Motlop despite the match review panel scrutinising two incidents from the last quarter in Darwin on Saturday night.
The panel decided Motlop made contact to Bulldog Dylan Addison's left shoulder and chest.
It also felt the contact to Dog Daniel Cross's right shoulder and back was not forceful enough to be a reportable offence.
Power forward Danyle Pearce's contact to Bulldog Brad Johnson's face in the last quarter was assessed as an open hand brushing motion.
And Richmond's Jake King and Carlton's Bret Thornton were cleared of wrestling charges.
