What is the perception of this fella on these boards?
Has done some good things to date but in my opinion he has struggled in the last month or so. Seems to lack strength in one on one contests and get outmarked regularly.
Played on Hansen tonight (admittedly Brown started on him) and was beaten.

.
Like many of our young players, he is work in progress.
We did not expect to be 12-2 come July this season. Our kids have been an integral part of our better than expected position on the ladder, circa 2008.
I just hope their improvement rate will keep pace for our team to maintain its lofty position on the ladder.

has been the biggest disappointment of the year so far for me.... not because he has been so bad... but because he hasnt blossomed like he threatened to after a very solid and prumising first 2/3 of the season last year... the last 6 weeks or so of last year he started to slide alittle and tread water... he has continued to do so this year... he is being identified more often now as the weaker link, and being isolated one out by opposition coaches....
i hope he develops into our running CHB.... has good disposal and thinking... has just become a little stagnant in his development

In my opinion will only ever be a 3rd tall defender. Certainly don't want him taking forwards who can take marks, or are strong one on one. Has good football brain but nothing more than a Danny Jacobs clone for me. May seem harsh but the boy needs to put on 10kgs before I would consider him for CHB or FB, would rather Thorp underdone one out with a big forward than Gilham fully fit in those positions. When Thorp is fit or we recruit a true backman our backline will look 50% better. I like Gilham but he isn't a KPP.

Gilham would be the perfect 3rd tall in defence we need another quality marking backman. he also hes questionable kicking skills for the game plan we are using

Yep.
He hasn't been that great of late, but is still pretty serviceable. :thumbsu: Just lacks a bit of height and strength, but can only improve one of them.

Gilham is one of many players who have either struggled lately or haven't been consistent over the year. Other's that spring to mind are:
Brown - I think he's been good overall, but he's not near the form he was last year.
Birchall - Started well at the start of the year, but has struggled of late.
Murphy - Has been all over the place. Not near the form he was last year.
Young - Another who has struggled of late although last night he definately improved.
I'm sure there's more I've missed but you get the point, he's not the only one. But like Gary said, there all still a work in progress.
