Channel 7 vs Hawthorn

Was it just me, or was the commentary on the Eagles match very anti Hawthorn? I know we didn't play our best footy, but last time I checked, we won by over 50 points! The whole game was anti Hawthorn, Scwartz comparing them to Beta VHS, Commetti saying that we only focused on the break, and called us "very below average". How about someone saying how shit West Coast were?

I nearly pressed mute on my Foxtel remote. They honestly sounded like a bunch of drunks that were watching the game in a pub. Commeti annoys the crap out of me.. his voice needs slaughtering! He thinks hes all that plus a bag of chips. They were just critisizing the Hawks and they BUTCHERED most of our players in the second quarter. :mad: D*cks.

He honestly couldn't give a stuff about talking to Brad - despite Brad being nice enough to cover for Jeff's absence.

The only good one was Buckley. I have always rated the guy very highly, and proved it by not dumbing himself down to meet Commettis level. I am seriously considering writing in, asking why they employ a has been dick munch like him.

They were terrible all night. Even my wife complained and she doesn't usually worry about things like that. Look, we were average for two quarters, but kicked 6.0 in the 2nd and 7.4(ish) in the final quarter, and even when we stepped it up, moved it quickly and had two young talls dominating a flooded forward line all they could do was bitch and moan. Hodgie roosts an 80m torp and all they can do is complain about the dropped mark at the end of it.

Here's a side with 2 of our top 6 midfielders out, then another one goes down early in the game in Lewis, Crawf goes off around the 3rd quarter some time and Hodge misses the entire 3rd quarter, and we still get a 10 goal win.

Channel 7 is the worst coverage of AFL ever and have the worst commentary team of all time too. I'm not sure who the Hawks premier TV partner is but it clearly ant 7, there bias was ridiculous. They cover so many Scum games and they salivate over them and they are one of the worst team in the AFL.

Obviously, some of retired hacks, even though they have played the game at the highest level, do not think before they open their mouths. Exception: Buckley. He comments like he played the game. Has so much more modern football knowledge than know-all Commetti will ever dreams of.

I believe there is an envy of Hawthorn which is engrained in some peoples' brains - a hangover of our power eras.

The buzz that C9 delivered is a distant memory.

Listen to a MMM game being called, and you'll hear what I mean.

So 7 and 10 are tiresome and boring, and FOX is the clear winner.

Surely some wise soul can see this at AFL HQ and put the acid on.

One last rant item: Commetti likes the smell of his own farts: listen to him deliver a tired one-liner, painstakingly written and rehearsed to add to his own 'legend'. Cringeworthy....

What exactly isn't pretty about that win. It was pretty. Roughy absolute star not just with the goals but the 1%'s. Worth coming to the footy just for that. Amazing Rough!

Agree with all of the above, and the comment made by that @#$^ head McAvaney, suggesting that Jeff K was "too" sick to make it at half time, was so SARCASTIC, he intimated that JK was lying.... Hope they don't get the next broadcast rights, they don't deserve it, and Commetti is wearing thin, VERY thin, with Schwartz following very close.. In fact there aren't many commentators that deserve to be on air, only Bucks says it as it is, there should be more like him.. (omg, never thought I would say that about an ex pie player)..Thank goodness for the mute button..

The OX is a closet Hawk, who was just dissapointed by the standard of play.
Commetti is a little tired now, he isnt funny or unique anymore.

For as long as I can remember the Hawks have been given a kicking in the press and on TV. Comentators have seen them hurt other teams over the years and just dislike them
and they love it when we're on the bottom end of the ladder.But when we're going OK even while up the top end of the ladder its then they'll find anything to whine about.
If we are travelling a little below par at the moment I wouldn't be worried, this is the hard part of the year when a few injuries catch up to a few of the boys.They've got
a rest for a couple of weeks now and I think a 9 to 10 goal win isn't too bad when
you're playing with wounded.
Lets hope that bloody seven lose the TV rights and never get them back. They don't deliver the product . In Perth last night even the pubs, sky and fox, delayed the telecast
in the Eagles home town, and there was no local game here until today or tommorrow(sat/sun). How do you figure that out. Without Foxfooty channel (proper) the footy coverage for people in this state is crap!

It's not just last night. Since 7 got the football they've had nothing good to say about Hawthorn. It used to be they just ignored us, and talk mostly about the other side on the ground, now they lamblast us from the first bounce to the last.

Commetti has some sort of vandetta, and Bruce goes along with anything Commetti says or does. Gotta love how classy they are making snide coments on the air about OX :thumbsu: regular class act by two out and out dogs.

Serious question, how did Commetti ever get on TV? He has the perfect face for radio :p

Eddie used to barrack, but he was pretty good considering. The 7 team have gone beyond anything you'll hear from a comentary team. Even listning to NFL radio coverage in the US when the home team has their own announcer not even trying to hide their barracking for the home team is as bad.

Couldn't agree more. I just returned from holidays in QLD and managed to finally catch some AFL in what is an extremely dominant Rugby state (God knows why the AFL "need" a team in the Gold Coast - no one cares!!!!) anyway, another time.

But the commentry was unfair and unjustly critical at times, and spoilt my viewing of the match after I was so much looking forward to it.

As for the Cats game on Ch 7, just go to the G and enjoy it without the commentry.

The commentators kept talking about what a horrible game it was. There was a short period when both teams went handball crazy in the first half without much impact, but the standard lifted and you couldn't question the endeavour of the players.

Sort of got used to hearing commentators talking about poor games growing up listening to the around-the-grounds commentators on 3LO, but don't recall TV commentators being so negative before.

It wasn't just the Hawthorn team that got bagged, and as much I was wishing that all of Priddis' possessions were as meaningless as Ox and co were suggesting, the longer the game went on the more impressed I was with his game.

Didn't listen to channel 7, but was at the game and listening to the radio. The ABC 774 crew were getting stuck into Hawthorn too. This included Schwab and Parkin.

In the first 3 quarters, we look like, smelt like and were crap! Don't get precious about commentators calling us shit when we were. I reckon our side has had it's fair share of good press this year and when we're good the commentators love us!!
