Are these the kinds of players we should look at drafting in the upcoming draft?

Looking at Geelong, they've had great success with the likes of Egan, Stokes and Harry Taylor. Given the fact that we're probably one key defender short of a more well-rounded list - is that where we should be looking in the next few drafts, rather than picking up an eighteen year old?

Would you be interested in any of ours?

Beyond Glass and Jones, who knows who will be around next year.

I hear that Cousins bloke does well.

I think we are set for the next 3-4 years. what we need is a replacement for Croad. Since Cyril has been moved into the midfield i would love to look at Hayden Ballentyne from Peel Thunder, Absolute gun, and only 21-22 years old

Sorry, but we are so far from set for the next three years in my opinion. Not picking on you, but I was apalled with our game against the Eagles.

It showed we are well short of premiership material to me. The Eagles are pathetic. Sorry to Eagles saupporters, but you are awful.

Ashely Hansen kicked four. Most Eagles supporters would rank his year in the bottom ten percent of players in their club's history.

We let Kerr and Pridsis have career best nights.

What I learnt tonight was that:

1) Without Sewell we don't have a quality shut down player. If we play Geelong without Sewell, Ablett is likely to break a record on disposals. Clarke, Laddo, etc can't contain class players that aren't soft bodied outside orunners.

2) Gilham and Brown aren't quite as good (Gilham) or in form (Browny) as we think they are. Brown is not in the form he was last year where he could handle a 190cm+ forward with ease (and he should never have to do that IMO, but because of our problems he tries to) and Gilham for mine is a poor man's full back (let's be clear that third talls in the back half need to be either flexible (e.g. Jade Rawlings - take key forwards, resting ruckman, medium forwards) and/or have exceptional skills and ball winning ability (e.g. Sean Wellman).

3) Our depth is not what we think it is. It's like looking at a bunch of string beans that are 6-2 +/- 1 inch, that all have a key weakness - courage but no pace, endurance but poor decision-making skills, or outside pace but no cdapabiluty in a contest. This is fine, because most are young, e.g. Morton, Ellis, Young, Tuck, etc. However, we are no longer competitng to beat the Eagles, we are trying to win a flag.

Sorry to rain on our 57 point parade, but on current form and tactics, I can't see us getting to the GF this year, let alone winnign it.

Time to take off the rose coloured glasses.

Nah, he's an absolute crab. Can't beat a decent opponent.

If you want a mature age player like that from here, far better to go for Richardson or Siekierka. Siekierka can play as the small defender, small forward, and does shut down roles in the middle as well. Will be right up there in the Sandover.

There's a big difference between career best game and career high disposals. If they hadn't told me how much of the ball Pridis had I would have had no idea, he did bugger all. And Kerr got a fair bit of it but we spent the whole game 4 goals up, so who cares?

Very negative post ,you might be right most likely we won't be playing in the GF,but if we get to play in the Preliminary final we will have done well as we continue to move up the ladder as our window of opportunity opens up in the next 2 to 4 years.Have faith in the mighty Hawks.

Most of what you have said i agree with, we dont have a shut down player like a ling or a brady rawlings. we dont have a big strong FB, our depth is there but we havent used it becuase its not the right time, we have too many kkp players but not many hard running midfielders and that is were we are getting our asses whipped we need back up midielders who can step up and run the gaunlet...
