View Full Version : Our destiny will be decided in a few hours
G'day.
Unfortunately our own performance hasn't been enough to be able to guarantee us a position in the finals, and dissapointingly we have to rely on other results to go our way to get a spot in the top eight.
I'll be watching tonights match with Hawks and Geelong very closely, as I'm sure a lot of other Eagles fans will, because if Geelong win, we will most likely not make the finals.
It's an unfortunate situation as we should have been good enough to make the 8 on our own merits, but hopefully we can pull off a miracle and play one or two games in September.

Hawks won. We're half way to making the top8.
TAB have us as slight favourites to win our game (1.80 to roos 1.90). Also, a lot of "expert" tipsters have tipped us for the win. So we're in the box seat for this match.
Its all up to us now.

Without wanting to sound too pessimistic (;)), almost everything has been going our way for the last few weeks (since the Bullies game from memory?) but we haven't taken advantage of them.
I hope like hell we can pull it off on Sunday, but I'm not getting my hopes up.

So far so good - I don't like the idea of us being favourites though - IIRC we were before a number of games away this year before we crashed and burnt.
Still thanks to the Haws for once again proving they play their best football when only the other team has something on the line..
D4E - I noticed you're accusing one L. Brown of eating your doughnut - are you sure? I would look eastward at one Dean Rioli if I was you.

They were saying on the radio that if we win and all the other games this week fall as expected our first up opponent in the finals might be Essendon....in which case it would be time for some serious finals revenge.
A big thanks goes out to the Hawks for keeping us in it. It's all up to us now, we have to turn up on sunday and play our best footy for the season. I dotn care that Archer, Stevens, Pickett and Rocca are out. The Roos are a good side, even better perhaps when there big guns are out...dont ask me how??
So we have to turn up and play our best footy and give it all we've got. If we have a real crack but go down then ill still be very pleased with how we have gone this year, doubled our wins from last season.

Our destiny is in our own hands
We win, we make the finals - it should be pretty easy for the boys to get motivated

Now, it's up to our guys to play like men possessed if they want to play finals. I just hope the boys here don't listen to the tipsters and think they are in for an automatic win.
It's still an away game and I am worried we will play like the fools away. Destiny is in the players hands now.
