I think Alves may be worth a shot. After all, the guy can coach, and was dumped by the Saints when still coaching well.
He would be cheap as, communicates well, and would be the right type for us at the moment.
From the above, the most important thing IMO, is that he is a well qualified coach with a good track record, and may just jump at it, if given the chance. I like the man.
Whaddya reckon? Bit left-field, right-brained, but .....

Like Alves a lot. Thought he was great as a player and as a coach at the Saints. Took a young team taught them a lot about self belief and disipline-Just look at the decline in Aussie Jones and Tony Brown after he left. I listen to a lot of ABC radio and find his special comments interesting.
I have two concerns.
1. Has been out of the game three years
2. He once lost and abused a player in front of his teammates on the ground during a quarter break-Justin Peckett or Andrew Thompson I think. That sort of thing doesnt sit well with me.

I just finished reading Alves book and I could be wrong but I think it was Hudghton he abused and Alves has said he wasn't abusing him but was yelling at him 'who's our best defender' until Max answered that he was.
And after reading the book you get the feeling there is no way in the world he would ever coach again
