Terrible news! Hopefully Polly gets through this quickly and back on the field.
Head injuries doesnt sound good nor the apparent induced-coma, Hopefully the media havent got this all correct yet.

Has brain bruising and is being brought out of the coma this morning.
Obviously a lot of people know him personally here. I always found him to be a super nice guy, very unassuming and friendly. Won a juniour premiership playing next to him, so it is really troubling. Remains the best grab I have ever seen, or have ever had the not so useful experience of attempting to "spoil".
Given he could so easily have been killed, anything else is a bonus. Lets hope he doesn't sustain any intellectual problems from this. Obviously a lot of cognitive rehab work will have to follow, and getting back to playing any footy, let alone AFL will be a massive achievement.
It's stories like this that make you so angry at Jeff and Cousins for squandering their talents.
My thoughts go out to all relevant parties.

RFC just had a news conference. Polly will be slowly brought out of the coma today. No broken bones but some swelling which is subsiding. I've got plenty of experience in this area and to be de-induced this early means a good prognosis.:thumbsu:

Let's hope so Runanaidh - as you can see, a lot of us Freo people still have a pretty soft spot for Polly. Best wishes to Polly, his family and Richmond - hope he can make a full recovery.

To tell you the truth IDGAF if he plays for RFC this year or ever again for that matter so long as he gets through this with all his mental faculties. But I'm sure he will saddle-up next year bigger and better than ever:thumbsu:
Poor guy - hope he gets better soon.
Get well soon Polly. Just terrible news.
And I agree with Chops - he is one of the best marks I have ever seen, with the uncanny ability to grab the ball at the highest point.

Not only that, but you could punch him in the back of the head, and he wouldn't flinch, or move his arms. I'm sure if he was holding a ball when the tram hit him, he wouldn't have dropped it. :o

And channel eagle said on their news that Black, Dodd and Shaw would be heading over to Melbourne tomorrow to be at his side. Great to see the club showing support for Polly and his family.

Terrible news. Lets hope he gets through unscathed
Really tragic news and I'm sure all Freo fans wish him all the best. Has taken many a courageous mark in his day, I'm sure he can carry that over into this fight. Fight hard GP.

Latest report is that he is awake and talking to friends and family. There was even a mention on SEN of him showering.:thumbsu: By the way the support from supporters of Freo has been fantastic, I'm sure it will filter back to Graham and bolster his will as he recovers.

Thats good news! seems a miracle recovery to be up and showering etc.Apparently there was minor brain bruising but no brain swelling. Great work by the medics from all accounts. He was also very lucky to have mates with him and be so close to one of the best hospitals in the world.
SEN is great but the only official reports from the club still say he is sleeping it off but he is no longer being assisted to breathe, he's had his eyes open and has squeezed each member of his family's hand when requested so the signs are looking better but I'm not sure of the validity of this SEN report that comes an hour later the RFC report from doctors.

The SEN/Ch7 report would have been as a result of a comment made by a family member or friend.
Yeah fair call but I'm always cautious about media report and how accurate they really are especially in a situation like this.
Let's hope it is absolutely correct and has recovered so quickly physically. Now just to see in the coming weeks if he's still mentally right.

Sounded like he played on after getting a cracked rib as well. What a champ.
Tougher than nails. Kicked 15 goals and took about 30 marks for us one day with a deep cut in the palm of his hand, that he got from someone stepping on him. His courage will get him through this. :thumbsu:
