Everyone sees the game differently, but I thought Sandilands was our best player by a country mile. He was simply outstanding and put in an immense effort, almost dragged the team over the line by himself. If only he had some decent midfielders to work with at his feet.

5 - Sandi
4 - Pav - more mistakes in the 1st half than I've ever seen him make - but still our 2nd most effective player. We'd really be f**ked without Pav.
3 - Grover - awesome defensive effort
2 - Mayne - legend in the making
.5 - Palmer
.5 - Schammer - earned it with his effort in the dying minute

Belly was hard at it (+ 11 tackles), Josh Carr finding some form and Solly was good. Good games from Palmer, Warnock and Ibbo.

Schammer was pretty good, leave him alone.

Maybe it's where we sit, but I thought Hille beat Sandi easily. Was very surprised at his numbers when I got home. I honestly thought he had little impact.

5 - Mayne - not having Murphy made it so much easier for him.
4- Grover - great defensive effort.
3- Pav.
2- Dodd - thought he at least broke even.
1- Palmer - pure work rate and better disposal today.

Hinkley was great as well, but not enough for votes. Glad he transferred his WAFL form to AFL.

Can't agree with you Chops on your comment about Sandi. He did everything in his power to propel the team. He tapped, blocked, smothered, marked ( strongly !!! ) and broke packs.

I reckon we are seeing a change of the guard, Sandi is the one carrying the team on his back ?.

5 votes: Aaron Sandilands (Dominant. That is all.)
4 votes: Antoni Grover (Scott Whocas?)
3 votes: Steven Dodd (Mathwho Lloyd?)
2 votes: Matthew Pavlich (Pav is just Pav.)
1 vote: Chris Mayne (very good chance at being the rising star this week I reckon.)

Apologies to Byron Schammer, Rob Warnock and Peter Bell.

Gutsy effort today and a number of players. Very hard to split the votes with a good number showing a lot of heart, including:

5 - Pav - Was reasonably held buy Fletcher then Ryder, but rose to the top when the game needed to be won and almost dragged the team to a winning score.
4 - Sandi - Dominating game against a form ruckman in Hill too (who himself didn't have a bad game of course). If he could kick straight at goal I'd give him BOG.
3 - Grover - He was a mountain down back holding up a player that could have buried us before half time if allowed. With no McPharlin and Hayden, he was just so pivotal at making the defence work.
2 - Mayne - Stellar game and again a critical linking player. Worked hard, was dangerous around goal, good defensive pressure, couragous ...
1 - Schammer - that last gasp effort with a couple of minutes to play was indicative of this guys intensity. I don't have access to fancy stats, but seemed to be a key player at getting the ball toward the Pav zone.

Unlucky for mine:
Palmer - seemed a little more composed today to go along with his incredible work rate.
Bell - slipped under the radar but played well as a small fwd then a midfielder later in the game - well used by Harvey I thought.
Soli - Steal, determination and gutsy player.

Special mention to Carr's last quarter.

First game I've seen since the derby (not for lack of trying, just lack of satellite coverage), and if we had been playing like that all season, we'd be 12 and 2. I've heard an awful lot about 4th quarter fadeouts, and with 3 down on the pine, I was expecting a bad finish. But all I saw was a solid performance from nearly all on the field. There was some solid running and second efforts; Sandilands was phenomenal. Carr stood up, Tarrant backed himself, Schammer with 90 seconds to go was what I want to see.

We really need another forward presence that oppositions fear, very Pav focused today. Our inexperienced players stood out today; all of them looked like footballers, and that's a great sign.

Wanted to fit Palmer and Solly in but couldn't. I thought that Josh played an excellent 2nd half - more of that please... pees me off that he is so inconsistent, cos his good is still very, very good.

Elephant stamps for Hinkley and Head - both played well. Some of their passes into the forward 50 were stunning, with Pav getting on the end of them and kicking truly. :thumbsu:
