With 3 more injuries today, 08 is getting grimmer, and Daniel Rich is looking a real chance. Schammer might actually turn into a class midfielder from today's display, and I think Hinkley and Mayne will be quality mids too. So a midfield of Haselby, Headland, Rich, Palmer, Schammer, Ibbotson, Hinkley, Mayne, Carr and Crowley, with the 2 bohemoths in the ruck, might actually go ok as soon as next year. Our ruck work and centre clearances seem to be on the improve also. Some quality set plays today.

Hahahaha... serious??? Not from where I was sitting.
Mayne is the perfect 3rd forward option. Not sure what the obsession with trying to turn him into a mid is. He would lose his biggest asset for a start, his speed.

But it's always a trade off. It's very rare to have a tank and the speed as well. Davey isn't half as fast as he once was for example. Just end up the same pace as everyone else.
He's a great 100 runner. Use that, don't destroy it.

2 less than a first gamer and 4 less than Pavlich who had one of his worst games in a long time? Hardly worth comparing to in my opinion. How many players clangers directly cost us a goal? Schammer and?

Completely uncalled for insult, but hey when you lack the intelligence like you do, you have to resort to these things don't you?
I've been following Freo since 1995, was a member when it was "cheap" and I could get a kids membership, since then I haven't got one because being in Adelaide its rather pointless when I get free tickets to Freo games anyway.

Anyone who thinks Schammer has good disposal hasn't watched many freo games, what can I say. Having one game where he only makes one clanger (even though it cost us a goal) and forming an opinion is just..... intelligent... I guess.

The only "agenda" I have is to turn Fremantle into a premiership winning team. I have no player loyalty like you, and I do not accept mediocre players who show no improvement, or worse, go backwards.
It says something you are talking about Schammers 06 form when most of our team was playing great. He wasn't exactly a stand out during that period.
Haselby > Palmer > Rich > Cousins > Headland > Crowley > Ibbo --> DAYLIGHT --> Schammer.
I hope schammer can turn it around but he hasn't improved his shocking disposal yet, what makes you think he can in the future? What makes you think he can improve his leg speed?

I have a vision of what it takes to be a premiership team. Unlike you I have been consistently right over the journey about numerous things, not just things relating to Freo. I have football vision. Either way it is only my opinion, and even though I base it on logical, rational and factual things, doesn't mean you can't think it's stupid. You wonder why you can't get through to people like me it's because you have little substance in your arguments, I am far from stubborn. I'll agree we don't know how he will go, it's just my gut feeling. Either way unlike schammer he's being touted to go top 3 in the draft, so most place him ahead of schammer at his age.

Your bias AGAINST Schammer seems to be greater than anyone elses FOR Schammer, so maybe it's you with the agenda.
I only say this because of todays game..... he wasn't bad at all. Any objective observer could clearly SEE that. I don't know what you were watching (if you were at Subi at all). He had stuff-ups, just like everyone else on the team. But to be as derogatory as you has been is pretty hard to understand.

I never said his game today was the worst I had seen of him, or that he was our worst player, far from it. However he has consistent large clangers in nearly every game he plays. Today for instance he cost us a goal. It's just his consistent inability to dispose of the ball that I am going on, not any specific game or two where he has excelled. Because he has in periods, but yeah.
Well my opinion is that anyone who kicked a behind today cost us a goal.
Had we kicked straight early on first quarter, different result.
Had we the Wiz or McPharlin playing, different result.
Can never blame just one incident in the game. How many occasions were there when Ess players got free out on their own, with way too much space ... that would've cost us goals too.

I'm not saying Schammer only had clangers in todays game though. It's a consistent theme with him and players like Peake. Many players cost us the game today, schammer was one of them. But schammer also turns the ball over a lot, would be up there with our hishest clanger/game count.

Schammer won me over in the subi final in 06, expected him to have a big year this year but he almost lost me again with his sloppy footy which culminated in him being dropped. He got the reprieve and has played some good footy since, BUT he still goes to ground way too much for someone of his size. There was a crucial example of it in the 3'rd quarter where Lovett in our forward 50 miscued a kick which only went a few metres toward Schammer. All he had to do was keep his feet and he would have had a shot on goal or at least been able to put it deep inside 50. He was free clear and he just fell over. Essendon got the ball back, took it down the other end and scored one of those 3 late goals. It doesn't look that bad on TV but at the game right in front of me we all just groaned as it was so obviously a Schammerism, falling over at a critical moment. The turnover kick to Thornton wasn't so bad but it still hurt really badly at a critical time. Then of course 10 minutes later he put it all on the line with the big hit on McPhee. The contrast is what it's all about with Schamm. He's never going to play slick error free footy but he will put his body on the line every time and he doesn't shirk it. Jury is still out for me as to whether he will ever be better than servicable.

That's a good point, actually. I noticed that at the ground. It doesn't excuse Schammer from that critical turnover in the last quarter though. He's miles ahead of Peake, however.

So everyone is surprised that our midfield struggled when Headland and Hasleby were missing.
When Crowley went down after half time and there was only 1 left on the bench for half a game.

If we can get a high draft pick we can turn our midfield around quite easily IMO. However to get Rich we have to finish behind the eagles which I don't see happening. If we get the second pick take Rich if we get the third take Hartlett then someone like Jetta or Hill in round 2 our midfield could look like Sandilands and Warnock as our Ruckman, Palmer, Haselby, Rich/Hartlett, Ibbotson with Headland and Carr for Depth and Hinkley, Jetta/Hill, Duffield as our developing midfielders. That could easily be one of the best midfield's in 2-3 years and at worst still quite good.

Anything is possible really. But I agree, we are like one good midfielder away from a premiership (well 2, but Hase is already there just injured).
The other possibility is getting some possible experienced talent in the PSD like Cousins, etc. When you are this far down the ladder you can usually pick up someone good in the PSD.

Most posters on here wanted Headland permanently missing, and quite a few thought the same re Hasleby. Now they think the same about Schammer and Peake.
I think both Schammer and Peake can play a role and should be persisted with until the list has stabilised. I am especially talking about the imminent retirements of M Carr, MacManus, Bell and probably Webster, Browne and Dunn. Plus the potential losses of Warnock, Mundy and Murphy, and the bigger question marks about Gilmore and Thornton. That is already enough players to create all the positions on our list that we will require for next year. Geting rid of two midfielders who are at least serviceable is a bit silly unless we get something in return of value.
