Anyone who says this boy doesn't have G&D doesn't know anything. How courageous was he going for the contested ball against McPhee (a much bigger body), and then getting up and playing on.
Tip my hat to Tequila, I have bagged him in the past as well.
If every player did that on our list we'd actually have a footy team.http://www.bigfooty.com/forum/images/icons/icon11.gif

Schammer score a ten out of ten for bravey and guts on the tough guy factor for that one. :thumbsu: What more can you ask of a player.

thought he was one of our best today, even considering his important turnover.

It may be one contest but I know there are more players on our list, who get paid a shitload more who wouldn't have done it.
Knights made mention of them in the media conference as well.
Top effort by both players.

Is that the important turnover in the last qtr which got cut off on route to thorton? the one which then resulted in lloyd kicking a point? Tried his guts out and i think peakes handballs cost us far more today and each and every week

That's just the sort of thing that makes me love Byron. There was no one I would rather have had in that contest. McPhee has probably got about 20 kilos on him but did Byron give it a second thought? No freakin' way.

Was courageous i will give him that. But throwing himself at the ball has never been something the football community has questioned him for...

Everyone made errors today not just Peake... I have been impressed with Peake the last 4-5 games since coming back from the macgoo's.

yeah i thought he had a good game , 1 or 2 errors but thats across the board , and how good was that contest ,

Was left gobsmacked at three idiots that rang 6pr after the game saying that they hope schammer never gets to 200 (like ma johnson)thought he was terrible , blah ,blah etc , sure shammers played some shockers but this was not one, as langdon said he's 23 goes hard at it, has reaonable skills and is only a season and a bit back fo having that virus that hospitalised him ,think he lost 13 kg through that , thats sure to set anyone back...... i know he's know judd/ablett but some are so quick to critiscise

and just on the peake bit aswell 50 games today well done and he can only get better..

Re Schammer: Exactly, that layoff hurt him. Look at Nathan Brown from Richmond. A broken leg and he's out for the season, he hasn't till now looked anything like the player that he was before it. I know its not the same incident etc, but in comparison its similar enough. Brendon Lade took a while to get over his broken leg and others with their knee injuries take more than just the one season to get back to their best form.

Very couragous and hard working player but I am real sorry he's got to go. He just doesnt have the smarts or skills required at AFL level.

Too many times he ball watches and his player ends up the ball (gets sucked into the ball). Classic example was Lucas got tackle on the wing and Schammer went to double team which left his player wide open and Essendon went inside 50.

All can you have all the courage will the world but is making decision and skills errors all the time, then you hurt your team more than what you give it.

Schammerlangadingdong your a freakin human canon...! Players need to raise when the game is on the line, it has been a key weakness of the dockers this year and displays of courage and determination like that can be addictive and gives you momentum. That's the kind of player you want going hard at it in the final terms of football matches.

Was sensational all day. Was out best player today IMO. All the morons around here that have bagged him should watch his video for the past 3 weeks cos he has been very good.

Peake, you have been impressed with him....... how about keeping your feet in a one on one contest against a smaller, younger less experienced player. nope doesn't happen and a goal results.

Totally agree,Schams 23 and played 97 games ,ready to turn into top mid,so please play him as a mid and not a small defender which is not his bag.

Schammer lost us the game. Stats are not everything. 98% of time players dont have the ball. Because of Schammer's ball watching he creates over laps for the opposition and then they break the lines or at clearances he gets sucked into the ball, then the ball gets out and the opposition run away from the clearance and hit a target upside with a little pressure or on 2 on 2 he leaves his man 5-10m away and then their players gets the ball and gives to Schammer's player.

We are losing alot of clearances because he gets sucked into the ball.

Just watch the next two games and you will see what I am talking out.

Finally some footage of the bump between Schammer and McPhee. Fast forward to about 4.30 though, the rest is somewhat depressing. Gutsy effort IMO, he was way out of his weight division.

<now removed clip on youtube>

I didn't realize at the time, but Ibbo should have handballed rather than gone long - I guess he was probably worried about time remaining.

Might of been a BomberTV clip. In which case Essendon would of took it down.

I find it humerous that people still make excuses for Schammer because he was in hospital 2 years ago.

Given that he is only 5'8 he needs to have the best skills in the team.

FFC cant afford to have a midget that cant hit a target running around on the field.

Having said that, Schammer collision with Mcphee probably saved his spot in the team for next week.

I saw the game on television (I know this is not the same as seeing a game live) but I thought Byron had a rather crucial turnover in the last quarter when Freo was trying to rebound of their half back line. It was a critical turnover when you guys were still in the hunt for victory.

I think small guys need to have the best footskills going round. They cant afford to have critical turnovers.
