Peter Rhode obviouslly seen something that plough didn't.
Croft at FF and Grant at CHB is the way to go. All Croft needs to do now, is continue taking marks like those, because he is our most accurate kick (due to a goal kicking comp)

What about Darcys goal?
Bursts through the pack, kicks from 65 out, 2 bounce inside 50 and rolls in ... YOU BEAUTY!!

I've always thought he plays good footy up forward. He has such a great footy brain, and is more agile than most people give him credit for. It's a shame that his career has suffered (a little) from having to fill a spot he wasn't really born to play.

What a guy!Originally posted by Chops

Lets hope he can transfer those sublime baulks to the forward line next year!

Why is it that when Crofty spends the whole game at FF, gets 5 posessions (2 frees against and 1 clanger) and kicks 2 goals it is considered a good game?

This mornings Herald-Sun called it a master stoke from Rhode and that Croft battled at every contest.

Had Chris Grant returned these sort of stats he would have been slaughtered by the press and by most on this board.

The thing that came out of this for me is as far as full forward goes, Crofty is a top full back.

Difficult to get good stats at FF. He contested, marked a few, should have marked some others and took supposedly one of the best full back (Presti) of the comp. Only kicked 2 but how many other goals were a result of the contest he provided?

Agreed, my post came out all wrong.

I wasn't out to slag Crofty, only trying to point out even Chris' bad games are still OK.

But I wouldn't have held my nerve like Rohde did, I would have had Crofty on Tarrant before the end of the second quarter.

crofty was recruited as a forward, it was great to see him kick a couple, but i am like jim, don't know if my nerves would of held that long, gee i'm glad it wasn't me coaching!!

Crofty's screamer was definitely a highlight! It was pretty gutsy of Rohde to leave him and Hargy where they were but it worked out well.

Watched the last quarter again tonight.

Something we all missed. Directly before Crofty's mark, Eagle laid two tackles in a row and caused the turnover!

credit where credit's due - Eagle was great after half time.

Matthew "Jexhead" Croft played his junior footy on the forward line. It was good to see some tall targets on the forward line.

Well done to Shaggy for fighting back after lowering his colours early.

In the end we missed by 2 wins, this equates to the Melbourne and Carlton games in which Wallace coached poorly. Must of had other things on his mind.

well, Grant has been playing forward for a long time, whereas Crofty had half a week to get used to the idea, so lets see how he goes with a preseason at FF under his belt.

Grant is/will be much better value at CHB than up forward, we all know it, and the new coach better play him there, thats all I can say. Smithy will get 25+ touches a game running for Grant, Penny will only have to take 2nd best defender, etc...etc..

If Harris and McGuiness get regular gigs up forward, who knows...

Not to mention the fraction of a second that cost us a win against Essendon!
