View Full Version : The Biggest Positive in the Bombers game.
One of biggest bad habit that the dockers seems to been broken. When marking alot of our players would jog back (no vision) and then turn to see whats up the field. Therefore, missing opportunities.
Yesterday, every time our players marked the ball, they turned first and got vision first, and then run back. If a player was free up the ground they made the pass and in the past how couldnt the opportunity.
Next habit to break hopefully, is too many players ball watching.

Or spoiling your own player when going for a marking contest when we are going forward.
Ibbotson spoiling Warnock. FFS let the bigger bloke go for the mark, and crumb you stupid bastards.
It happens every week, and continues to happen.
Coaches must be blamed for this !!!

I was most impressed by Schammer's attack on the ball that left him hurt. I am by no means a Byron Schammer fan, but credit where credit is due, that was inspirational courage. Any team with 22 blokes prepared to do that will be hard to beat.

Inexperience is to blame for that. They have about 20 games between them. Admittedly, recently a few of the young blokes have taken some ill advised screamer attempts, but I can't think of many examples involving experienced players.
I would rather the coaching staff encourage these youngsters to back themselves in than sit off the packs hanging out.

Mate, against St Kilda Mundy went for a hang with two other Freo dudes, i posted the photo two weeks ago. Also, Wiz spoilt Tarrant in the same game.
It happens all the fecking time !!!
They fought the game out, instead of going into their shells.
The youngsters all took another positive step.

I hate losing. I don't care for tanking. I want us to win. I won't clap the team off after a loss...
However a positive is that we fought this match to the death and didn't make it easy for essendon.
A positive may be that with so many narrow losses, perhaps with some fine tuning & dianostic tweakings perhaps mixed with more experience to the new wave of Freo players we will turn those narrow losses into victories. The Bulldogs managed to do that this season compared to last and look where they are now....

The kids all took another step forward especially Chopper who I thought was outstanding.
Head looks like a player.

i think the ibbo warnock contest indicates a lack of talk... warnock should have called him out of it or ibbo should have call himself into it with warnock then pretending to attempt a mark and allowing ibbo an uncontested mark as warnock would effectively be blocking...the 2nd is definitely the least preferred option, big man should always fly but if he didnt call then id prefer ibbo unkowingly spoil his team mate than risk an uncontested mark to the opposition

Anything that leads onto more intensity can only be good.
The biggest positive for me was something that probably would not have happened if not for being undermanned.
Having both big blokes on the ground in the last Qtr roving the others taps was very exciting and will be a real weapon going forward.
Ripper, I agree with you. Having Warnock as ruck rover is something we should do regularly. If Warnock gets the ball it almost impossible to pin his arms down if he raises them to handpass.

that could be a new tactic - the double ruckman combo :) Warnock getting the ball off Sandiland's was certainly working quite well!

If we get a good midfield around Sandi he could possibly win the brownlow next year with the way he is going. Just make sure he works on his goalkicking though, his field kicking improved a few years ago so it must just be a concentration type issue.
Anyone see the hitouts against Essendon? 57-12 or something like that. Absolutely ____ing crazy. Get a decent midfield around this guy.

It did. Was quite hilarious. But I suspect would only work as a shock tactic occassionally. If it became a regular event then the opposition would come up with neutralising tactics, which clearly the did not have this time.

Choppers continued development as an emerging super star stood out, as did the solid core of good young players such as Ibbo, and Palmer who must have his name engaved on the Nab Rising star trophy.
The tag team of the Big Man and Knockers could end being an awseome combination, I know hope we can keep Knockers and this will allow Harvs to rest the Big Man at full forward. The Big man has th brush up on his goal kicking.
The Palmer / Sandilands ruck combo has become the most effective in the AFL. We are developing some effective strategies for the clearances for the fisrt time ever to my recollection.
Harvs is on the right track, persist with the young guys, play Hinkley off the bench to blood him.
The Purple Army marches on.
