Best wishes and a speedy recovery to Gilmore on with his on going problems. It sounded rather serious as reproted on 7 news, and I'm guessing he'll be out for a undetermined period. Could this post concussion syndrome put an early end to his pro football playing career ??

Apparently a heavy knock in training with Mark Johnson has had some negative long lasting effects. Poor Gilmore has attention and memory problems which has been attributed to Post Concussion Syndrome. They had a doctor speaking who said in the most extreme of cases another knock could be fatal.

certainly sounds very serious. Footy comes second to just getting yourself right. The complications from his head injury are not good indeed...

I have had something very similar to that although my symptoms only lasted just over a week or so. It was pretty scary forgetting things that you have been told not more than 2 minutes before and the blurred vision lasts for a while. I also found that I felt like I was going to fall over all the time, sort of like being on a boat 24/7.

Best of luck to Happy and hope he fully recovers and I really do think he can add something to Fremantle and should be on the list in 09.

Yeah, I had something similar after a bad motor bike accident.

Took me 3 months to be able to read and be able to write sentences properly. It was shithouse. Incredibly scary.

Had 2-3 weeks of severe headaches whenever I exercised. Started playing footy again after that, but was getting regular concussion from really simple things, and couldn't remember large portions of games. Eventually saw someone about it and got told to stop everything, otherwise I was at risk of permanent brain damage or even death. Kept racing bikes though. :o

It ended Dean Kemp's career, but he should be fine eventually. Just will have to deal with a permanent agitation like you ceunts. ____, ____, ____ing _____! :o

Good old Hackdorn reckons it's Freo and Gilmore trying to 'cover up' other issues. Yep, he's off to a neurologist just to make a good story

As was discussed in the other thread on Gilmore, he had a very out of character performance in his last match he played for Souths and was then very publically blasted by Dimmer. Chops/dbt from what you have both said from personal experience, I would think that such an injury could certainly cause such problems.

Both he and the Club seem confident he'll be back this year. I know they wouldn't say anything else publicly. If he can get himself up and running he might get another year.
My buddy still has some unfinished business.
