Gameday Live is the afl's match tracking system showing stats of the match do you guys use it and what could be done to make it better??

I go on Gameday Live for all AFL matches. It is the only thing I do on AFL.com and it is pretty good.

The stats are recorded in real-time though and can be presented live in a fraction of a second of being inputted into the computer. The AFL website just doesn't update/refresh the data received by CD on the page every second to save on server load.

Gameday live is the only thing on the AFL site that I ever visit, and I do that through a bookmark. About the only thing that could make it better would be making it close to real-time as others have suggested.

I think it's awesome I use it every week. The live Dream Team scores are superb as well.

i think your all rite it is a bit slow to update with the radio...
alsi i use it for the supercoach pionts... thier is two columns for points dt and overall... overall is the supercoach...

Only good thing on the site.

quicker updates are problematical. It's an XML app and as such the data has to be retrieved, parsed and then displayed.

Once a minute is probably a reasonable compromise between timeliness and running the retrieval, parsing, display functions.

I think the stats are inputted well, I'd like to see more stats put in like inside 50's, clearances etc etc. It is a very good tracker though and I use it all the time (Through a bookmark obviously, I boycott afl.com.au).

The grand slam sites update their scores in real time, eg: stats change as soon as the point finishes, sometimes before (if your watching live through a foxtel feed).

If the AFL could somehow get hold of this or similar technology, it would be awesome.

have a look at tennis grand slam sites, CBS website that covers NBA, MLB, NHL etc.

If I was betting on this sport overseas , the coverage would be too slow. Fact!

When Chappy pulled out before the pies match his name was still on the list right up until the first bounce but otherwise it's good.

I like it. You can see all the live scores and stats in the place, as well as all the radio stations covering the game.

I mostly like it and use it all the time. Works well on Firefox and IE7. Opera doesn't like any of afl.com.au.

My biggest issue is that radio streams don't work - hasn't worked for a while now. I've tried several browsers and media players including the latest WMP. The streams sometimes load, but there is no audio in them.

I could live with stats not updating in real time if I could listen to the radio at the same time.

that happens to me a fair bit, often i have to switch to html mode just to get anything going at all and thats effectively useless

the frustating thing is that radio coverage is locked to the afl site, not thru the individual stations, so if you cant get gameday live then you cant get radio coverage. iirc there used to be links radio coverage on the main page?

The only other good thing there in my opinion is the amount of video that it has. Panel Shows.,,Behind the Scenes footage,.. match highlights ect. And of course game day live...

I use only cause their isnt an alternative of any note. It is slow (too slow in my opinion - every 30 seconds would better) and runs ok on firefox (though it does cause it to crash often.)

I would like to see some info like the players height/weight if you click on them (seriously isnt it pointless to ONLY see a pic of the bloke along with the same stats displayed on the site?) I would also like it to default to the first game of the day rather than Friday's game (which wastes bandwidth and slows it further)

I agrreee with stream live to the radion and have videos of important pieces of plays and goals (But they wont with tv rights and stuff)..

...... Also should tell u of injuries during the game and update the players position bench and stufff. reports ect..

For me as a German citizen and nearly no chance to get some live footy here :( (have only Eurosport 2 with the review and german commentators with no knowledge of footy :mad:) is gameday Live fantastic. What i have only to do is getup very early on weekende :rolleyes: (Sometimes at 6am but thats worth it).

Its good. I have it running even if im listening to the radio aswell. They could add some more stats but it's pretty good
