Game - Monkey Island 1,2,3 & 4 by LucasArts
First of all I'll begin this thread with,
If you have played this game I am welcoming you to have a major discussion about it with me. If you have not played this game I HIGHLY recommended you borrow/buy it or download it (any means possible).
It is the greatest game ever created and I guarantee you if you give it a good 2 hours you will thank me.
PS: Mojo I have strange suspicions that you might like this game as it is not only humorous but revolves around Monkeys.

Mr Williams, you are indeed correct. The Monkey Island games are absolutely brilliant. I especially like Monkey Island 2 - it manages to be really, really challenging, yet still a lot of fun.
Number 4 is a bit rubbish, aside from the fact that you get to see Melee Island (and Monkey Island) in 3D!
And tell me I'm not the only one that constantly has that theme song in my head??

*Offers Suedehead and Madhawkboy a hug, knowing that we are not alone!*
Far out, whenever I think about MI5 I nearly cry, its really been 7 hard long years since Escape and no mention of another sequel. Monkey Island 3 hands down the best game I've ever played. Escape from Monkey Island I agree was a joke but still... at least it was something. I would be rapped if they did Secret and Revenge in the same format as Curse of Monkey Island, but sadly LucasArts is all into those nerdy Star Wars Games, don't get me wrong Star Wars is good but in my eyes is worms meat in comparison to Monkey Island and INDY FATE OF ATLANTIS... by the way have you played FOA if not pm me and I'll hook you up.
The Largo Embargo theme song and the Captain Dred theme songs are predominantly in my head and also the classical one that your thinking of.

What a geeky, yet brilliant discussion! I've never played Fate of Atlantis, but I'd love to. I'm a huge fan of all the Lucasarts point-and-click adventure games (Sam & Max, Maniac Mansion/Day of the Tentacle, Grim Fandango, Full throttle etc.) I don't think they've made one since Escape from Monkey Island. That whole genre seems to have just died while, as you say, Lucasarts keep churning out more bloody Star Wars games!
I'm not holding out hope for MI5. Somehow, I just don't think it's going to happen. The thing I didn't like about MI4 is that it just wasn't pirate-y enough! Planet Threepwood? The Australian property developer character? Those things just aren't Monkey Island!
Yes, great big hugs all round! Look behind you - a three-headed monkey!

Anyways its near impossible to find a copy of Fate of Atlantis thanks to emulators etc. it shouldn't be too hard to find, try the ScummVM machine that worked for me, but yeah its a great game and you'll love it.
By the way could you beat these games without walkthroughs, I know that I would never of thought of the things such as: picking up the dog outside the mansion, sabotaging the cooks soup with a rat, steal LeChucks underpants and use them for a voodoo doll, oh the list goes on.

I could beat number 1 without a walkthrough, but I'm sure I originally needed a bit of help for the others. This goes especially for number 2! In Act 2, when you can travel between three different islands, it's just really difficult - there are just so many places to go!
Do you know what I love about the Monley Island games? You can't die! I hate games that punish you for exploring and trying new things (like bloody Leisure Suit Larry - who knew that you had to put on a condom when you went with the prostitute? :) )
What did you think of the ending of number 2 (Guybrush and Le Chuck as kids in a theme park)? I was genuinely shocked the first time I completed it, but they seemed to change their minds for number 3!

Um with number 2, I was a but confused with the ending, it had something to do with him opening up that theme park, as big whoop was actually a form of sabotaging Guybrush, I think he said this in the end of number 3 when guybrush was stuck in the carriage in the theme park and you could ask all these questions to LeChuck. My order of preference had to have been 3,2,1,4.

OMG!!! my two favorite things in the world are hawthorn and monkey island. So many gags i was to young for but i look back now and nothing but memories.
If your bored at all go onto youtube and a guy finished monkey island 2 in like 2 hours. Wouldn't call it an golden globe performance however it does bring a tear to your eye.
One day i will find the treasure of big whoop

Man your killing me. Number 1 was the best by a mile. i love the bit when you put the dogs to sleep how a message comes up saying no dogs were hurt in the making of the game. CLASSIC
This bush scares and confuses me

It was actually quite funny, now that I think about it I can't recall the order from which I beat Monkey Island games I think it went 2,3,4,1. I couldn't get my hands on number one as I had to result to 'other' means. But anyhow number 1 was still good IMO, but I just love number 2 for someone. By the way whats your clock count.
I think I'm:
#1 - 1
#2 - 5
#3 - 10
#4 - 2

I loved it years ago when I was trying to find things to distract me from school work.
Was never into computer games, but monkey island 1 and 2 were classic.
Don't make smart witty games like that any more, its all about graphics.
Gabriel Knight was another good adventure game, but a lot darker than monkey island.

What is it about Monkey Island? It would have to be top of the list for favourite games with anyone I've met who's been into Computers for a while. Fantastic game! :thumbsu::thumbsu:
Been a LONG time Lucasfilm/LucasArts fan, at one stage I owned every Lucasfilm game ever released from Adventure games: Monkey Island, Loom, Zak McKraken & the Alien Mindbenders, Maniac Mansion to WW2 flight sims: Battlehawks 1942, Their Finest Hour, Secret Weapons of the Luftwaffe... the list goes on.
At one stage I actualy wrote a letter to Lucasfilm telling them how much I loved their games and especially Monkey Island. Was stoked to receive many weeks later a parcel with a letter thanking me and full size Monkey Island poster!! Which I still have! ** Ah the memories ** :D
I bought Gabriel Knight but never got into it.
These are my favourites:
Dune 1 & 2
Master of Orion
Ultima 7
Don't get me started on the Ultima series!! :D Ultima 7 was just the best, loved it!
Yeah I'm an old school gamer. :D

YES! It's utterly brilliant! Quite challenging too, with a really interesting storyline. Perhaps you could download it? Just googling, I found this site where you may be able to get the full version:
