Could not see a thread for this one yet. This Friday night. Crows probably need to win in order to keep up with top 4. Huge game. Rutten has claimed Adelaide will try and do a 'Collingwood' on the Cats.

From the Geelong Advertiser:

"We're going in confident, we've got expectations of winning and performing the way we know how," Rutten said.

"They're arguably the best team going around, and on form from their last performance they're travelling really well, so it's a good challenge for us, especially at home.

"I watched a bit of that game (in round nine) and just the way Collingwood pressured the ball and the way they tackled was outstanding.

"That was probably a benchmark level for the whole competition, regardless of who you're playing, and that's something we'll be trying to emulate."

May well be a great game particularly as it's in SA. It's all very well for Crows players to talk it up (shades of that other well known SA football identity, from Sept 2007 - Mark Williams) but he should recall Malthouse not getting too carried away after his side had actually "done a Collingwood", when he said his side was not a 10-goal better team than the Cats. Does Rutten or any of his mates think the Cats form now is on a par with then. Anyway, what does it mean to "do a Collingwood"? What will Adelaide actually do on the ground to bring that off? What's the plan? It had better be good to win enough of the football against a very physical team that plays fast attacking footy with every situation giving the player with the ball any number of options for effective use. If, somehow, the Crows find themselves with the ball, now and then, how will they cope with the tremendous pressure the take-nothing-for-granted Geelong team puts on to force them to cough it up? Do they have anywhere near the cattle to carry it off? Maybe a chance on the night but, on the whole, pretty unlikely IMHO.

Don't like Taylor out (don't worry I won't carry on anymore about it here) but I'm still confident. Good ins. Varcoe would really want to perform. Despite being a forward, with Stokes back in he will be vulnerable if he does not play well. Same could probably be said for 3 or 4 others though.

I thought we would sneak in over west coast so my opinion is INVALID!. BUT i think it will be a low scoring game, and we will kick 3-4 goals in the last to get away from them. Win by maybe 4-5 goals in the end.

Don't like the Taylor out for Geelong but at the same time McLeod is a massive out..
Just because McLeod is out i think Geelong will sneak over by under 3 goals.

Looking forward to a hard and skilled game with hopefully less back passes than in the Rugby State of Origin...

In fairness though, Geelong, although at times have been a good side in a lot of those 13 matches, have never been as damaging and consistent as they are now.

My tip would be Crows by 2 goals.
If they can hold ablett to 10-20 touches(No goals) Adelaide will be home.

Simon Goodwin and Brett Burton if they fire geelong will have their hands full.

Ricardo
4 Jul 2008, 18:52
I've had a terrible year of tipping so far (after going so well last season) so i'll probably we way off.

The Collingwood game showed they are far from invincible though the WC game showed they can turn it on when they want to.

Over at AAMI stadium i'll tip an upset.

Adelaide by 22 points.
