I just can't go there anymore,
Every third post is about us and a theory about what is wrong with us, they are all based on misguided facts that totally piss me off, beyond which that I should considering this is just the internet. But it stretches much further than that.
We cop far more shit than all the clubs combined, we have been targeted since our inception, and this obviously applies in the media, work places and social environments. We go to the games and watch shit get thrown in our face, come home feeling like the thrown shit and have to back it up the next day by walking into our work place to greet our silvernode of a boss and workmates who say - "Haha, pretty bad loss, you've got to do this with your team, *insert commentator or journalist opinion*"
We then log into bigfooty and it applies nation wide.
And we just cracked the record membership yesterday despite all this, and forget all that crap about the mining boom and a two team town, people don't have to watch shit if they don't want to.
So, in summary... we should all take a moment to actually appreciate that we are the best fans in the AFL to the exact measure that we cop shit for. No one could ever tell us differently, because no one has ever done it tougher. I love the colours, I love the name, I love the city, I love the song, I love McManus and The Wizard.

i know how that feels, its damn annoying. my boss is a damn eagles supporter and he says the reason freo lose is because they wear purple and what colour does the phantom wear? purple and the phantom is invisable or some shit and when the freo boys are up the field they cant see each other.. that was his reason. felt like slapping him one when he was saying that :mad:

The only real claim to fame fans have is their loyalty. And when you consider how crap our team has always been and how much shit we cop from every angle, our undying loyalty is something Freo fans can be rightfully proud of.

Don't push it....their colour is all-white. They did have various away-guernseys, not sure if it involved purple though.

Exactly, esti... We may piss and moan about how bad we're doing and what we can do to change things, but there's three things that we can't be faulted on (and our membership numbers prove): Proud, Loyal, Passionate
I for one, wouldn't have it any other way :)

I hate how people are so unaware of how we are actually traveling. They suggest getting rid of Pav, Pharlap, etc, and to rebuild. It's like they have taken it on themselves to make Freo their project team and only THEY can set us straight.

I've learnt to ignore them. I had a conversation with an Eagle supporter a few weeks back, and he said the best way to get back at anyone bagging your team is to just not reply, as then they think no one cares about what they're saying.

Well considering that until recently the WAFC was a tenant in the Subiaco Freemasons Lodge, before the building was sold last year, those who know of the Freemasons influence in the world (WA in particular), might consider that this is the case.

While there are some good comments on the main board about Freo,most of them come from the drug induced people from up the road,the other club who are hiding behind the curtain of the judiciary(yella and what is the other crappy colour) and have the same problem as the scum from up the road.Then there also those from the Lygon street Mafia who just love to break the salary cap and employ Presidents who constantly are in trouble with he law.
Most know nothing about what is happening here in the West and are ignorant of anything from the Wetern side of the country.
But as someone said here earlier the best wat is to just ignore them.
Thats what I been doing to the scum from up the road for years.They soo learn not to try o be smart arse about footy when they talk to me.Treat them with the contempt they deserve.

FWIW, opposition fans are just as welcome here as Freo fans as long as they don't troll, otherwise the forum would have a filter only allowing Freo fans on.
If you see a trolling effort here, ignore it and report the post to a mod. Reacting in an angry fashion is merely going to encourage the trolls.

And then they'll just blast us for "see you had the team to do it and you just wasted all those years previously!" A bit like the reaction to our win over Adelaide in Adelaide last year.
As for the earlier comment about the fans loyalty... if they're on a roll they just start throwing the "cheered the team off the ground after being thrashed in the final" or "accepting mediocrity" stuff at you.
In a way it's better than what it was a few years ago, when we were just ignored. I used to think it would be good to be hated, as it would mean that we were significant players... I think now too many people have been burned by us in tipping or betting so are overflowing with vitriol towards us for any stuff up that we do.
The only way we'll ever get over it is to win a few flags. Port is still getting hit with stuff, Brissy is about the only team with the free pass at the moment, but even that is probably due to run out in a year or so.

I don't have much time for many on there and I haven't posted there as often these days. But at least they are all Freo fans and not a bunch of opposition fans looking for an opportunity to laugh at us and kick us down. There's a vast difference between our own whingeing about the club and opposition supporters bagging our club. At least our own supporters share the same aim of wanting the club to be successful.
Guess The Clubs-
1) Your team has been investigated for drug use and your captain is cut adrift, classed not fit to represent the AFL and having a crack at Freo will deflect this in the short term.
2) Your team was caught cheating the salary cap and banished from the draft, your CEO is a criminal and your team has since been a shambles and having a crack at Freo will deflect this in the short term.
3) Your team was a basket case until it merged with Fitzroy and with the help of a larger salary cap the AFL guided you to 3 premierships and having a crack at Freo will deflect this in the short term.
4) Your team gets given an armchair ride year in, year out with no less than 18 games in Melbourne but still you only have 1 flag in the modern era despite the AFL's best efforts and having a crack at Freo will deflect this in the short term.
5) Your team has choked more times than Linda Lovelace and finally got over the line last year against little opposition and after 4 and a bit decades and having a crack at Freo will deflect this in the short term.

Its becoming the Australian thing to do, if you dont go for Freo, you can help fix them. Kind of like if you dont go for Collingwood you hate them, its expected.:p
Just joking. Seriously though, there are a lot of AFL supporters that have had to put up with more than you guys have (or at least they have put up with it for longer). How long has it been for the supporters of clubs like the Doggies, Saints and Richmond? That is loyalty!

Having said that, it comes down to management at club level how they manage criticism and the FFC is woeful there. Stocks at the Weevils seems to be a master at deflection and spin and getting their view across whilst hiding the dirt. We need better media management, Black doesnt seem to be at all effective.

Haselby ran training at our club on friday night. he said one of his greatest moments in footy was walking off after the 03 final with whole crowd clapping the team off.
other included the derby where we came from 40 down and won by 1 and J'lo's goal after the siren.
so the loyalty from fans is appreciated.
Haselby is a superstar. I can't wait for him and Palmer to be tearing it up in 09.
