hey all
sorry for posting late - sick as a dog today
first off - i wanted to say a massive WELL DONE to everyone involved.:thumbsu:
I can happily and proudly update you all that as of now we have a total of $425 in the kitty for the Polak gift - which honestly - blows my ____ing mind.:)
Now... From here True Tiger is going to purchase the jumper during the weekend - and then we shall get the jumper to "i Rock" who has gladly offered to make the design and organise the printing.
With the amount of cash we have managed to get - i feel we can afford to get this professionally framed - along with a engraved plaque installed.
NOW - the latest interaction i need from you craft devils is ...
"WHAT DO WE WRITE ON THE PLAQUE?
this is everyones mission for the weekend - we want something "not to wanky" - but still slightly profound and touching
i also would like some suggestings of good framers in the melboiurne area which would do a great job on this. I am pretty sure there is a place in Richmond that do sports memrobilia that specialize in Framing of footy jumpers. anyone know of this place?
again - excellent effort people - $425 and counting. :thumbsu:

You have come into a hard world. I know of only one easy place in it, and that is the grave. ~Henry Ward Beecher
If you can find a path with no obstacles, it probably doesn't lead anywhere. ~Frank A. Clark
Let me embrace thee, sour adversity, for wise men say it is the wisest course. ~William Shakespeare
The greater difficulty, the more glory in surmounting it. Skillful pilots gain their reputation from storms and tempests. - Epicurus
Adversity is like a strong wind. It tears away from us all but the things that cannot be torn, so that we see ourselves as we really are. ~Arthur Golden, Memoirs of a Geisha
When it is dark enough, you can see the stars. ~Ralph Waldo Emerson
He who has a why to live can bear almost any how. ~Friedrich Nietzsche
When written in Chinese the word "crisis" is composed of two characters - one represents danger and the other represents opportunity. ~John F. Kennedy, address, 12 April 1959
Adversity introduces a man to himself. ~Author Unknown
That some good can be derived from every event is a better proposition than that everything happens for the best, which it assuredly does not. ~James K. Feibleman
Adversity is the first path to truth. ~Lord Byron
We do survive every moment, after all, except the last one. ~John Updike

Now and then for no good reason a man can figure out, life will just haul off and knock him flat, slam him agin' the ground so hard it seems like all his insides is busted. But it's not all like that. A lot of it's mighty fine, and you can't afford to waste the good part frettin' about the bad. That makes it all bad.... Sure, I know - sayin' it's one thing and feelin' it's another. But I'll tell you a trick that's sometimes a big help. When you start lookin' around for something good to take the place of the bad, as a general rule you can find it. ~From the movie Old Yeller

It all depends on how well he recovers. If he looks like fully recovering then
Q: Why did the chicken cross the road?
A: 'Cos he wasn't a Tiger
what did tommy hafey say "nothing more tigerish then a wounded tiger" .
"Once you pull on the Yellow and Black you are forever a Tiger in the eyes of we the Richmond faithful. Best of luck."
The Bigfooty Tiger Brigade.
"In times of adversity, the True Tiger Spirit will always prevail"

Even though I'm not really a part of this, I really like this one.
Some of the others are a bit ... I dunno the word but this one is a goer.

"Once you pull on the Yellow and Black you are forever a Tiger in the eyes of we the Richmond faithful. Best of luck."
The Bigfooty Tiger Brigade.
Like all three above.
The above one is the best.
Maybe we could put one on the jumper and another on the plaque.

I believe this one is the best:
"Nothing More Tigerish Than A Wounded Tiger"
It has history as being a famous Richmond quote.
The other quote is touching, but the reason it shouldn't be used is because the gift itself already says that he has a full support. It's better to left that unsaid and implied rather than actually saying it IMO. Using both might be a good idea too though. Anyway they are my thoughts :thumbsu:
Unbelievable to raise the money to get this professionally done, I only wish I could have contributed better!

It's a fantastic sentiment and I applaud you all :thumbsu:

I agree.
I Rock's is good, too. Maybe the Hafey quote could go on the plaque and put
"Once you pull on the Yellow and Black you are forever a Tiger in the eyes of we the Richmond faithful. Best of luck."
The Bigfooty Tiger Brigade
along with the list of contributors on the jumper?

Okay now this is going to sound real weird, and actually make me sound like a major loser BUT ...
I had a dream last night. Where I was sitting watching tv and somebody in the room next to me kept yelling out ...
"Nothing more Tigerish than a wounded Tiger. Best of luck, the BigFooty Tiger Brigade."
I tried to get into the next room, but couldn't open the door.
ANYWAY .. I reckon that's a goer. It has the historical part, and a bit from us Tigers. I'd have it printed on two seperate lines as follows.
Nothing more Tigerish than a wounded Tiger.
Best of luck, The BigFooty Tiger Brigade.
Thoughts?
Brilliant rock,love,live.:thumbsu::)
To use a line from our save our skins campaign.
Tough times don't last - Tough tigers do
Otherwise i like the line about pulling on a jumper - it talks about the club and support of the fans and who the gift is from.
As much as i like Hafey i think his line is not quite as appropriate.

Ok as of tomorrow(monday) i will be buying the tigers jumper from Puntroad. By mid afternoon Irock will have the jumper in his position. So from here on we need to agree on what the message on the jumper will read, as well as list of everyones " FULL" Names so we can print that on as well. By reading peoples posts on here over the past few days I would think nothing more tigerish then a wounded tiger has got the votes to be put on the Plaque!
Regards
truetiger and thanks for everyone for there input during this time.

I think I might switch my vote to Peejay's suggestion. It does seem more appropriate.
Hmm it's a tough decision.......
I like peejays suggestion but i also really like some of the others awell.
Nothing More Tigerish Than A Wounded Tiger
Tough times don't last - Tough tigers do
Once you pull on the Yellow and Black you are forever a Tiger in the eyes of we the Richmond faithful. Best of luck."
The Bigfooty Tiger Brigade.
definately out of these 3.....yeh maybe we should have a poll?
My favourite by far is "Tough times don't last - Tough tigers do."
It's sensational. :thumbsu:
Just a suggestion, but perhaps talk to the club and tell them what you are doing and they may be able to supply one of Polaks actual jumpers with his number on it for you.
No harm in at least asking.
