The game plan as far as I am aware is to not have a game plan. BRILLIANT I know!
To completely lower everyones expectations so far that nobody puts us in their top 8 predictions for next year and in fact most informed football pundits actually place us dead last. Then we make our move!

I concede that Richmond are crap, but you guys are testing the boundries, and going beyond... to where no-one has gone before (except for perhaps University).

I'm pretty sure Freo only won the one in 2006.
Richmonds were in 1995 and 2001.
Neither side really has anything to brag about.

This is true.
2-1 its like a soccer score. with neither side looking to add to that this season.

I been away from here for the last 3 weeks also... Does that mean Ive been doing a Houdini or that real life has just happened to have circumstance and more importance than facing up to nameless and faceless frauds such as yourself?
Ask yourself this, is face worth saving here, and if it was, why would I ever come back here again if what you fantasise was truth?
Then ask yourself this, do you have a life outside this site?
I think we both know the answer to this. ;)

C'mon, can we please have some serious answers regarding the op??:(
I don't profess to know a lot about afl after only following it for 4 years and I don't make a habit of posting. However I am passionate about freo and also very interested in knowing about other people's opinion on our current game plan.
What is it? Or rather, as the op says, what do you think it is? :)
OK I'll take a stab at it.
In the games we have done well, i.e. against Geelong, Dogs, Kangas, Bombers early we seem to be playing a Geelong style play on at all costs game. In the first 2 quarters against Geelong particularly we were kicking long ahead of the running player for them to run on to. Coming out of defence the players, Luke Mac particularly are running straight down the corridor. These have been the most pleasing aspects of this year for me. We got rid of the chip chip chip out of defence and are coming bringing it back into the corridor asap out of defence.
This game plan has looked great and we mostly pulled it off. The question mark is why we have at times then switched to tempo footy since we don't seem able to maintain with any confidence.
The other thing I've noticed (mostly from the angle I get at live games rather than TV) is that early in matches when we are running and moving the ball well there seems to be lots of players pushing up to meet the ball and others running on the overlap. Toward the end of matches the guy with the ball is running toward nothing and ends up having to go sideways or back so it's not that the gameplan changes but there is no one there to kick forward to. Whether that's because of fitness or confidence with players not wanting to take responsibility I don't know.

I tend to think that it changes week to week, whilst their should always be subtle variations from fixture to fixture the drastic nature of change in regards to Freo's style of play is concerning and perhaps part of the problem.
Freo play their best football when counter-punching.
See Geelong and West Coast, without giving up the midfield completely there is certainly a defensive mindset.
Flooding back into the defensive 50 and then kicking over our players to run onto seems to work wonders.
By flooding back and then breaking hard foward, we leave space for Pav, Tarrant, two players on the lead are nearly unbeatable.
It works well and is always dangerous. Why change it?
When other sides take the field you know what you are going to get.
Sydney, tough in close football.
Adelaide - Defensive, relying on the counterpunch
Collingwood - High Pressure football - Running football
Geelong - Play on through the corridor.
Hawthorn - Cluster football, a Zone defence and then long accurate footpassing, they have the talent to pull it off.
Doggies - Running football
West Coast - Shit handballing game which rarely comes off and doesnt work now they dont have the runners, Woosh hasnt figured that out yet.
I think its our biggest problem. Changing game style from game to game.
Keep it simple, keep it the same and allow the players to become acustomed to style.

Isnt really ignorance either, but reading books instead of magazines might have prevented your presumption... (and we all know what presumptions are dont we).

There is no game plan.
It's like playing 8-ball. Some people carefully line up a shot and plan where the white ball will sit at the end.
Other people see a cluster of balls and smash the crap out of them and hope something goes in,
I think Freo are the latter.
Wrong Dice Man, but dont fret you're not the first to make that mistake.

Yeah - I read a lot of books as well, I even have a library membership. Crazy, ain't it.
I didn't realise there was snob types who distingiush between the worth of books and magazines...
There are bad examples of both...
So, back to Fremantle & Richmond FC....

Well most of the time on the main boards now I feel like I'm dealing with 12 year olds so comparatively you are old but hey compared to me you're still spring chicken dude. I was born in the 60's and my friends all "discovered" that book in our early teens like it was some genuinely life changing psychological text. Way too much wacky tobacki being smoked!
