Whatever the weather next Saturday, Colonial is an indoor stadium and there will be no need for Eagles supporters to bring a jacket.

Incidentally, congratulations on a great win today, and on making the finals.

I love it when we play Essendon, but I also hate it. (Cos I hate seeing you bastards waving your jackets).

I love our tradition of waving jackets, whenever I see it, I just think in 50 years time when these two sides meet that we will still be doing it to each other.

I really like that tradition between our two clubs too, and was pleased that attempts by supporters of other clubs (notably Richmond, but others as well) to start doing the same thing, failed. Eagles and bomber supporters save the jacket waving for just the games between WC & Ess. and I think it adds something to their clashes. It can be quite spectacular, especially after a Weagles win in Perth or a Bomber win at the G. Even amidst the pain of losing, I've had to chuckle on occassion, to see Sheedy walking around the boundary at Subi staring at a massive swirling sea of blue and yellow jackets and scarves.

That has to be one of the seven sporting wonders of the world to see that sight - especailly this year after 5 straight Bomber wins.

That's one of the best things about it. Even if its too hot for a jacket you take something like a scarf to wave in case.

The best thing of all is that out of one small thing we've managed to create a modern tradition between one of the old VFL clubs and one of the new(ish) expansion clubs. And there's nothing else like it in the competition.

I love the rivalry between our two clubs....out rivalry with Freo is different and the jacket waving adds a whole new dimension to clashes between WC and Ess.

I hope there is pockets of swirling blue and gold on Saturday! :)

It would be even better if the players were wearing the '92 strip for the clash:)

HEH HEH that would be excellent, still nothing stopping the supporters dragging out their old style jackets, scarves etc.

Hopefully I will be waving my scarf wildly at the Hyde Park hotel at the final siren. :D

you are all making me reconsider about whether i can worm my way to colonial...

and just think about it, wce were in the finals every year in the 90s. we miss out for 2 years and everyone i know is getting right behind em, i think its almost been a good thing that we dropped off, its renewed spirit!

You've got a chance of seeing an Essendon/West Coast final live and you're in two minds ?

I think you may have lost both your minds - think of the atmosphere at this game, think of the expectation on the bombers, added now with the passing of D ck Reynolds, think of the responsibility of Gardiner and Cousins to perform, can they cut the bombers up at the centre bounces? Think of the way both teams play their footy, think of the rivalry so quickly developed between the two clubs. Two minds? You have got to be kidding!

Would love to see that happen too. We're undefeated with that strip (Fremantle, Hawthorn, Carlton)

I just received the bad news, AFL members can only buy tickets for themselves :( I'll have to watch it on TV.
