Jeezuz i love this club,

Hammered as i was last night, and as we embark on another September campaign, i managed to think about just how lucky we are.

It says a lot about the character and quality of our club and the people it attracts that we, this year, have been at best, fair, but are there again with a shot at another flag. Unlikely, but possible.

Jeezuz i love this club,
We have seen everything, the triumphs, joy, disappointment, heartbreak and despair, i've enjoyed every minute of the ride our club's given us in the time i've been watchin' 'em. The disappointments have made the triumphs ever so sweeter.

Jeezuz i love this club,
The hatred, fear, loathing and jealousy of others makes us stronger, more unified. We have been ridiculed, questioned and denigrated by these same people for our "lack of" success in recent years, when really, most of 'em would kill to have had what we've had in the last 20 odd years.

Jeezuz i love this club,
Make some noise brothers and sisters, get to Colonial this Saturday and make some noise. Show your appreciation for our great club.......oh, and don't forget the jacket.......

I love September............

Go Dons!!!!

No matter how we go in September I`m enjoying the opposition absolutely s hitting themselves. There is no way to pay back the times Essendon has given me, you couldn`t put a price on it anyway.

Go Bombers!!!!!

Think back to exactly this time two years ago today. I think I was into about my 5th or 6th beer as the Bombers kick away in the last against the poor old Demons.

:D :D :D

Yeah, same here,
Was talkin' to a manic Magpie today who is not relishing the thought of quite conceivably, confronting us in a coule of weeks....

Jeezus, I love this club too.

Even though it has been for a very short time compared to the rest of you. It doesn't matter, because it has only taken these past 3 1/2 seasons for it to have taken a real strong hold of me.

There is absolutely no doubt in my mind that this is the best club in the AFL and always will be. How lucky was I to meet a Melbourne girl who just happened to be born into a family of Essendon supporters. It so easily could have been anyone else.

The fact that I later discovered a footy club in my home state of Wisconsin that calls itself the Bombers and has aligned itself with the EFC, the fact that when the US team came over for the recent international tournament that it was none other than Kevin Sheedy who presented them with their guernseys. It is the Essendon football club who sponsors a scholarship for a US born player and allows him to train at Windy Hill each preseason.

Kevin Sheedy and the Essendon football club have arguably done the most of any AFL club to promote the game in the U.S., and all of this has happened after that day in July 1999 when I first saw the game played live and decided right then and there I was going to be a Bomber.

These coincidences are nothing short of amazing to me, and it proves that I really did pick the best club of them all.

There is tradition. There is foundation. There is consistent success. There is ethics. There is class. I couldn't ask for anything else, except for more of the same.

When I look back at all the time that has gone by before I knew anything about the Essendon football club at all, I wish longingly that I had discovered all of this sooner.

I have never spent any time here between July and December, until now. I have never seen the finals from here, as they were happening, only on distant TV screens and internet sites.

I look forward to the next 10-20 years, not only because I know the premiership tally will keep growing, but that I will finally be able to share as many happy memories of the footy as some of you have.

Hopefully, it starts this week, with my first live final. This is the real deal now. I can't wait.

yeah, i love Essendon as well....they are the best footy club on this planet! They even let my brother (who was a swans fan at the time) do work experience with them, gave him tickets to the Anzac Day match, and gave him a whole heap of supporters gear. Needless to say he came back a devout bombers fans.....especially after meeting all the players at training!

I was soooooooo jealous of him :(

Ditto :D

I got my ticket today. Level one. Consider myself very lucky to get that - especially as it's the first time I'll have been to a finals match! Up the Mighty Bombers!

Spot on Wally. The memories I have of going to the footy with my old man are the most treasured I have.

Bloody fitzroy in those elimination finals. Again. and again. And again. Revenge of fashion in '83. Watching us get ****ted on by the orrible orks.

Standing in the outer in '84 at half time wondering whether we could come back. Hoping. Believing. Screaming my bloody lungs out in the last quarter.

Bloody fitzroy in '96

The flag we missed in '90

The flag we pinched in '93.

'96 , the heartache, elation and heartache over three up and down weeks. Tears.

And now the fun in going with my boy and hearing him yell "Go Bombers!!!!"

Bring on Saturday.

What great memories this grear club has given us all. Loved reading about your memories.
I can still remember my uncle taking me to my first game at the western oval in 1984. He is a mad footscray supporter, but bought me my Essendon scarfe that day (The one I still take with me).
I've been to the 1990 :( , 1993:D , 2000:D , and 2001:( Grand finals.
Being at the 1993 prelim, though, stands out as probably the greatest. I don't think I've ever heard a raw like the Mercuri goal. Wanganeen, to Olarenshaw, 4 bounces, to Calthorpe, to Mercuri- GOAL!
Can't be there this week but salivating at the thought of an Essendon-Collingwood Qualifying Final.

So right. My two mates were still thinking we were a chance at halftime, but I'm ashamed to say I had given us away. But after that goal everyone at the ground new they were seeiing something very special. Watson's goal was the icing on the cake.

Still remember that game in 92 vs melb.

And playing little league for us. I miss it. :)
The smell of mud at windy hill in the days of 7pm training sessions, when it was pitch black.

Yaeh, I can still remember Kickett diving into the goal post to take a mark that saved the game. Never seen it on video. Thinking about it now, It's a must have and I'll have to order it from Name A Game.

Don't bother. Channel 7 didn't cover the game.
