What an absolute champion for claiming Barry Hall made no contact. This whole situation is a testiment to the man.

Peter Everitt should learn to keep his mouth shut... he'd be sick of the taste of his own shoes.

anti.

What did Everitt say?

Everitt was on Fox Sports suggesting that Wakelin should be reported for taking a dive.

Yet it was actually Wakelin who lied and said no contact was made in an attempt to help Big Baz out (yet mysteriously ends up with a black eye, from a punch that made no contact).

Campbell Brown's effort last year was better after Judd tried to rip his eye out.

Evirett on the other hand is and always has been all about himself. I have heard the man openely admitt that when he was unable to play in the grand final st kilda that he hope'd they would lose so he didn't feel like he worked his guts out and then couldn be part of the big win

agree tottaly , the way he acts just reeks of that. im glad he never came to collingwood when we were apparently linked to him.

You'd have to be a blind simpleton not to see that Barry the Brute connected with Shane the Silent. Barry needs his head examined.

I didn't know why Everitt was called Spider - until I saw him. He's like a daddy long legs. And nothing obese about that arachnid.

to me it was clear contact was made, and i was dissapointed when wakes said he dived,

anyways he's a classy bloke that wakes.

all class , i think at the end of the game it showed wakes walkin over to barry and shaking hands before or after the trophy presentation.

And to think I was afraid that chivalry was dead.

Wakelin is just old school in the fact that he thinks what happens on the feild stays on the field and that it is up to the tribunal and the umpire to convict a player.
It was not so long ago that the injured player would never give any admission of even being struck at a tribunal hearing.

I can't remember who was the first give evidence against the offender, but it was big news and as I say only in the last 7-8 years.

Wakes would rest easy in the knowledge that he did what he thought was the right thing.

David Polkinghorne was one of the first if not the first to "break the players code." Early 80s I think, irony is he played for Hawthorn who were a dirty side in the 80s.

Wakes is a champ. Maybe he hoped that Barry could get off and so he would be free to get pantsed by Wakes again in a few weeks :D . Love the way he goes about his business.

Not surprising to me at all. The dirty ones are usually the first to rat when it is them being dished out the treatment.

You're correct. I do remember that incident now...It was though an absolute
firestorm of debate at the time. Just goes to show how things don't seem that long ago when you get a bit older....remember not too long ago those blokes went to the moon...lol

What is really funny, since the "appearance f the black eye" is the massive amount of back-pedalling going on on the Main Bord from those who posted what scum Wakes was for diving....lol...you would reckon he forced Baz to have a swing.

Some real old fashioned squirming going on....it's lovely to read.

You're mistaken. He got that black eye when he asked a couple of fellow commuters to kindly turn down their ipods on the train...
