View Full Version : Gu's tackle
According to the Monday Advertiser stats Brent Guerra only laid one tackle against the Lions. I find that a bit hard to believe, although he wasn't on the ground all that match. But what a tackle it was! Brisbane were six points down and Shaun Hart had the ball in the centre with a free Lion to his left to kick the ball into attack with 40 seconds remaining. And Gu crunched not just the player but the ball so that Stevens could get it forward to run some time off the clock. After his heroics in the first Showdown this year Gu has shown what a hard man he is and will soon cement a position for himself in the side.
I hear all the ladies like Gu's tackle.
Goo probably is our best tackler. I cant think of someone who is better

I should have known someone would make that joke.

Shaun Burgoyne executed the perfect tackle on Stephen Milne at the start of the year, causing him to spill the ball 5m from goal and fail to get a boot to it despite great effort, thus conceding a behind

He is the best tackler in our side by a million mile, I think he is one of our most under-rated players. He does all the 100 percenters and would not back off to an iron wall with spikes!
He is my favourite player and I think the less bench time he gets the better he will become!
That's two game saving tackles now folks: Showdown XI and the McLelland Trophy play-off. A rich man's Adam Ramanauskas.
The Guru is a great tackler, but i also rate Junior Burger very highly in that regard. Junior has more pace and is able to "run down" opponents more the Guerra but when it comes to the physical act of tackling the Gu probably has it over him. Dimma & Poults can also lay a decent tackle/hit when required. Flash was also a great exponent.

Had a good 10 tackle performance in the showdown, and has become a good exponent of the art, as not many get loose.

Don't forget Josh Carr who can lay a god tackle.......as well as hurt an opponent who tries to take him out with a bump..........:D

Add Kane Cornes's to this list his tackle near the end of the 3rd quarter, we were only up by 17 pts, Brisbane were wide open he laid a top tackle on Scott to set up Matty's second goal.
