As hard as it is from a Carlton supporters perspective, it is important to give credit were credit is due and tonight you deserve it.
Totally outplayed as and Nick Riewoldt established why he is still an elite forward of the competition.
You played very smart football which worked to perfection.

Hopefully we can break the 11th game streak next year ;)
Well done..

Cheers mate, know it must be hard. ;)

Not expecting many more Blues to post anything like that. :thumbsu:

Thankee kindly, must admit the game wasnt an auto-matic tick in the box this time which was sort of good, though all up I'd have to say I preferred the thrashings as they involved more hilarity less tension.

Thanks Blues supporters. I really got worried for a while in the beginning of that last quarter with your last run - Betts was brilliant.

All the best with that tough run - from tonight you can really give some of those teams a real run for their money.

Eddie Betts didn't make it so great to watch for a while there.

Agree with OP - a great hard fought deserving win to the Saints.

Completely outplayed Carlton all over the ground, and responded well under pressure when the Blues came hard in the 4th.

An attractive style of football looks like it has made its way back to Moorabbin :thumbsu:

Agreed, some very nice football tonight. Some very frustrating football too, but that comes with the territory of supporting St Kilda. If only we can get rid of the ball above the head gesture...

Your guys fought hard, had me very worried in the final quarter

Kozi and Reiwoldt will cause alot of teams headaches for the next couple of years. We did not deserve to win and u guys defiantely did. Well done and good luck next week Vs Hawks. Well not to much luck. If you make the 8 just make sure u kick Collingwoods ass out of the finals. Its the least you could do after a billion straight wins over us

i was going to start a thread aswell!! :)
Well done saints. As soon as i started rubbishing all the supporters around me, we started losing:mad:
then got rubbished myself. all in good fun i suppose:D
didnt know so many supporters wernt a fan of reiwoldt though?
but i have to agree that we were very vocal in the last quarter, as soon as betts kicked his second goal in that term, everybody was on their feet

on a lighter note; i shook hands with a couple of saints supporters, and a couple made afew comments saying that they didnt really expect that sort of sportsmanship from a kid my age:p

Good to see a decent spread of goal kickers from the last couple of games.
18 goals spread over 10 different players is always good to see. :thumbsu:

Judd-ton are starting to get a few more goal kickers and look less like navy blue witches hats i remember from R8 2006 when they only manged a dismal 4 goals. Although Fev was responsible for them all, Simon Wiggins did help out with this 2 behinds for the afternoon.

We really must give credit to the Casey Scorpions goal kicking coach, the form of Milne has really improved. Perhapse St Nick will benefit from a training session.

I think it's really funny how Carlton supporters blame the umpires for the loss

Carlton received 6, YES 6 goals from free kicks and they're still complaining

Suck it up Carlton supporters!

Well done Saints, some good signs from your guys & the coach.

Kosi & Roo were awesome.

Also like how Lyon has moved Gram,Fisher & Goddard up the field more.

Those 3 players talents are being wasted all stuck in defence.

I think last night our game plan really came into full effect. We flooded when Carlton had the ball which snuffed out some of their 50 entries with only one goal coming from marks inside 50. If the friggin umpires didn't favour them so much (god know how much Pratt gave them) we would've restricted them even more. When we had the ball we went long and direct and ran hard for each other, i just wonder why we couldn't play like this at the start of the year.
I've been telling a lot of fans from other teams that Lyon is a good coach and his game plan is far from what we've been playing and i think it really showed last night. Good effort from Boy and also Ross Lyon with McQualter and Dempster tagging Murphy and Stevens out of the game and with Gram on Judd as well.

I couldn't be happier about the win, great match and great for our finals hopes. Plus I made a fair bit on that game, I couldn't believe how many of my mates thought Carlton would win comfortably.

Didn't see the game but could someone tell me...

Did we play a better brand of footy?
Still flooding?
How did the forward line go?

Great Win. I thought we all played quite well exept for 1. I agree about the crowd, we were sitting in reserved and it was all carlton supporters. I need to point out how disapointing Gwilt was and how disapointed and angry I am that RL didnt drag him. He almost cost us the game. Gave 3 goals to carlton through free kicks. This guy has to be dropped. HE WILL COST US GAMES! He should go find Raph Clarke. For god sakes RL stop playing these amatuers.

top effort from the boys .what a superstar clint jones is gunna be once he gets that kicking under control.. is jason blake the most underated player in the saints 1s. week after week he gets big jobs ,but hardly gets a mention.

I reckon that was Blake's best game. He has turned into a beast and seems to be faster than I remember.

Jones had another belter.

But, best of all - Max Hudghton. Absolutely fantastic performance on Fev.

4 words.....I ####ing love Milney. :thumbsu::)
Watched the game and i like what i see.
A few creases to be ironed out but we have time.

Riewoldt and Kosi thriving on the running of the midfield

Seems Ross Lyon has identified some players weaknesses and sent them down there to improve it. Dal and Joey in defence, Ball at Half Forward etc. I like. :thumbsu:

Loving Gram, Goddard and Chips rotating through the middle as well, gets them in the game and really gives us run.

Liking Eddy more and more each week, same with McQualter.

Absolutley outstanding ruckwork from Kingy, set up 4 or 5 goals form awesome tap outs.

Good thing about letting Carlton within 7 points was we were able to stop their barrage of goals, once a team gets on a roll against us there's no stopping them, but we are now. :thumbsu:

ROFLMAO at Jones's pissy 3m kick to Lenny, he didn't have to break stride but what the hell was he thinking. :D

Is it just me, or is Eddy looking more and more like Hamill with every passing week? Is anybody else using #2 right now? If not, it'd be nice to see on Eddy's back.

Thx Blues supporters.

Eddy was tough at it which was great to see, so much agression!!!

Blake again put his body on the line contest after contest after contest. He really blleds for the jumper!

Maxy is an absolute legend and I nearly threw my missus bra to Robert Harvey... What a champion:thumbsu:

Gwilt and Allen were a little worrying, both will probably get a run at Casey this week, but I still think they have both shown a bit over the past 3 games and if they can get some form in the VFL and someone else is struggling then I wouldn't be too unhappy if they came back in.

Re the umpiring... Did Carlton get a ride in the first or what. Bloody disgraceful. Riewoldt and Kosi had their arms chopped all night which I can live with if it's not being paid the other end... But Fev got a couple of soft ones.

For the Blues Bryce Gibbs really went up two notches in my books... He's now at notch 1 lol.

Kosi just doesn't get frees. I think everyone would say he's a ball player, and many would say he's a dangerous forward. So you'd think he'd get attention from both the opposition and the umpire. 10 free kicks in 13 games (17 against) shows he has to work extra hard to get a kick.

Roo is the same. Some people crap on about how the umpires love him, but he averages 1.3 free kicks a game. Given how much we kick the ball to him that is very low. Waite is very good at pulling him down on the shoulder whilst punching, but you'd think the umpires could spot it after a while.

I've got no problem with awarding the mark Brad Fisher took after putting hands in Blake's back, but if Blake did it to Fisher it would automatically be a free kick.

Gwilt has always been a little bit inconsistant this way, and IMO this type of erratic player is not good to have on the team. While Allen had a quiet day, I am not aware of any glaring mistakes that he made. He is still very green and I think he still has a future.
Kosi seems to be awake to the arm chopping. His grabs are incredibly quick!:)

I was 3rd row right next to the cheersquad and they were going bloody crazy (me included, lol) but that ball did hit the post. What is it with the AFL recruiting all these blind goal umpires (Leigh Fisher incident against the dogs as well), i told them it wouldn't work:D.

nah I didn't see that, but I saw the security guards come down a few times.

It was good to hear everyone starting chanting "Oh when the Saints, Go Marchin' In!" when there was about 2 minutes left
