Oh yeah, I forgot to say a couple of things........

Stanton - 9 tackles with his 3 goals..(32 disposals as well)
Watson - His kicking is improving.....
Angus Monfries (http://www.footywire.com/afl/footy/pp-essendon-bombers--angus-monfries) - Really is having a great month, 21 disposals in this game and was hard at it!
Peverill - done enough to get another call up, his courage was amazing!

Oh, and Hille is a AA! :)

Welsh, tagging and getting heaps of it!

Lloydy, playing some quality games up the ground. Captains marks and goals!

Lovett, heaps of midfield run.

Lucas, just coming in to some fitness and form.

Hille, surely he's proved himself now.

Good signs I think.

An excellent win by the Dons, you guys must be impressed with the style of footy you are playing. Any footy lover would appreciate seeing Lloyd and Lucas play well. Congrats on a very good victory!

Cheers to the good sport Brissy supporters.

I wonder if Shiva 25 will drop in to compliment Stanton on his disposal and goals :D

Anyone else sitting right in front of Hille's hit on Black? Awesome to see the big man throw his weight around! He runs harder than anyone else on the ground, and not only when we have the ball either.

Laycock committed to some strong marking contests, and cannoned into Brown in the second term too. I liked seeing him fire up at some of the Brisbane boys in the third quarter too.

McVeigh, Welsh, Hille were all enormous. Lloyd and Lucas played well. Lloydy continues to squash eggs all over his critics faces. You know who you are. Jetta didnt get the ball much but what he did was quite special.

Neagle was quiet.

Patrick Ryder was fantastic tonight. Star:thumbsu:

Will have to send Hutchy a text when he is on off the bench next Saturday morning and ask him how much he lost on Brisbane given he said the where absolute morals to win and the best bet of the round :D

i was, i remember there was another collision before/after that too. everybody around me gasped, then were all clapping at his courage and selflessness. i forgot how much more you can get from being at the ground.

While i didn't declare Brisbane morals, i did back them and had Collingwood 1-39 into Brisbane straight out @ $3.80.

Had a descent whack on it to, so it was a bitter sweet win last night for me.

Agreed. Put his body on the line (Like he always does) to win the hard ball. Was pretty effective and sacrificed his own game for the benefit of the team.

It's so sweet seeing the boys win like this!

Had a very good night betting wise-too, with a line-accumulator for Geelong (to win by over 46.5) into Essendon into North. Paid a handy $6.15!

:D

I'm not a betting man but the odds for the game last night were ridiculous. Surely some smart punters would have put a bit on the Bombers to win.

It was only last year where we smacked them by 60 at the Dome. We also beat them in the NAB cup up at Brisbane. We've had the wood over them and we were back in form.

How anyone could say Brisbane were certainties is just plain silly. Shows a real distinct lack of football knowledge.

It was my first game for six years and here is my summation of the players.

Neagle-He had little impact on the game and definitely lacks fitness. I have seen training 3 times in the last week and he does little work on the track. He has raw potential and the club needs to work on his feet.
Watson- A solid game in the midfield. He won a few clearances and distributed the ball well. I was impressed with the defensive side of his game.
Stanton - Played a consistent and hard working game. His foot disposal has improved markedly, although his decision making by hand is still a worry. Tackled well and kept the ball in the pack.
Monfries- He was a lively half forward who played a team orientated game. He does seem to be making better decisions and woked hard.
Jetta- A lively half forward who does crumb well. His tackling pressure is good and i was happy for him to finish off his good work.
Ramanauskas- Rama played a solid game and fitted into the team pattern. He has definitely lost zip and some agility but his ball handling and disposal is still above average.
McVeigh- Worked hard all night and gave his forwards every opportunity. I was impressed that he tried to always carry the ball up the corridor and never stopped running.
Peverill- A dependable game down back on the small forwards. He competed well and made good decisions with the ball.
Welsh- Again he tagged successfully, but I was impressed with his reading of the ball from clearances. Does a lot of grunt work in tight.
Lovett- A solid game in the midfield. His defensive pressure was good, as was his run and carry, although his disposal wasn't as penetrating as usual.
Laycock- Gave useful support to Hille. His rucking was OK as was his marking. He does need to tackle better and have a greater physical presence.
Lloyd- Worked hard between the FF line and centre line. He was strong in contested situations and kept his feet. A productive game.
Slattery- Played on the small forwards and was unusually composed. He does work hard and has no fear.
Fletcher- Probably had his colors lowered by Bradshaw. His spoiling was effective as usual but I felt he could have diluted Bradshaw's influence by playing him from the front.
Lucas- Worked hard in the forward line and was rewarded with 5 goals. His marking on the lead was good and his kicking was accurate.
Ryder- Had an even battle with Brown. He was beaten in few one on one contests. I would like him to attack more often from the back line and make his opponent chase him.
Lonergan- A hard working midfielder who can win the contested ball. He has excellent ball handling skills and is a vital cog in the midfield.
Reimers- A sweet mover with above average kicking skills. He was a bit quiet and could have handballed once or twice instead of kicking.
Lovett-Murray - Played as the third tall defender and did a fine job. His run out of defence is excellent and he was unusually calm and composed.
Hille - A mountain of a job in the ruck. Has good endurance and displayed a physical presence around the ground.

Great games from Lucas, Jetta, Mcveigh, Welsh, Stanton, Watson, and Hille. One thing I was slightly dissapointed in was in the last quarter when Jetta had the ball in the forward pocket with a Brisbane defender right on his tail, Lucas was one metre from Jetta calling for the ball instead of going in and laying the shepard, Jetta in turn fell when he ran into Scotty who refused to get out of Leroy's way... A little too selfish from Lucas for my liking.

Lonergan's effort stands out for me. I saw him hit his head, only to return and boot two goals. What an effort a real tough nut this kid.
Jetta keeps improving, it was a great game for the boys. Bring on the Tiges.

Totally agree... the stats belie the importance Lonergan was to our win on Saturday night. After he got hit and went off, all of a sudden Brisbane started getting more clearances and got a run-on. He then came back on and had an immediate impact getting the momentum our way again. He may not have got a lot himself (mind you 9 of his 17 possessions were contested, compared to Stanton's 8 CPs from 32) but what he did was good hard work. No doubt our season started going 'pears-shaped' (is that good or bad, I'm not sure!) once he and McVeigh did their harmonic hammy act in Round 4.

Go Dons... [don't mention the 'f' word!]

Jay Neagle: Quiet, although his goal and handball to Lucas for Lloyd's fourth were impressive.
Jobe Watson: In fantastic form. Let's hope he can keep it up.
Brent Stanton: One of the best games for the club. See my sig;)
Angus Monfries: Is really starting to arrive this season. Another solid game from Gus.
Leroy Jetta: Another great game from Leroy. He is well and truly dancing with the football now.
Adam Ramanauskas: Did a few things worthy of praise, but pretty quiet.
Mark McVeigh: Another fantastic game from Spike.
Damien Peverill: Solid, did his job, without being spectacular. Sums up his career, really. Hooper was very quiet.
Andrew Welsh: As they said on 3AW after the game, his best game in the red and black.
Andrew Lovett: Pretty quiet. Did a little bit.
Jay Nash: His best game for the year. Really used his penetrating kick well. That goal was an excellent set play.
Matthew Lloyd: 866.
David Hille: Another fantastic game from Hilly. All Australian, surely.
Henry Slattery: Kept his men pretty quiet. A good game.
Scott Lucas: He's ba-ack.
Jason Laycock: His last two games have been his best two this year, which is promising. He's normally a very good kick, so if he does what he did on Saturday every week he can be pretty damaging as a back-up ruckman.
Paddy Ryder: Dominated Brown, most of whose goals came from soft free kicks.
Dustin Fletcher: Had a dog of a night.
Adam McPhee: Worked tirelessly, and set up a few goals.
Sam Lonergan: Great courage, and a couple of nice goals. RS this week please.
Kyle Reimers: A little quiet, but pretty good at times.
Nathan Lovett-Murray: Great first three quarters, but should have kept Brennan quieter in the last.

At the risk of being a spoiled sport a couple of things. Don’t you love when the 'best game for a club' comes out??? How anybody would know/remember all the games for a player over a 130 game career and declare the one that happen today the best I will never know. Maybe I have drunk to many beers in my time and the memory is getting a little blurry but I do recall two great games by welsh V carlton in 05 & 06. He did play a very good game though.

Agreed Jetta is dancing now, fantastic to watch!

Slats, loved his courage running back with the flight in front of Brennan but all in all I thought he got cut up Saturday, wasn't he playing on Johnston? I thought he was almost best on for the Lions.

Gotta love his effort off half back in the last as well.

Out ran a Brisbane player to keep the ball in, then slipped back inside another, which set up Laycock who went back and slotted the goal! :thumbsu:

Pretty sure he had some time on Simon Black.
